Hi HN,
This is my personal site, but instead of the usual landing page it drops you into an interactive shell.
It's a React SPA with a virtual filesystem and command history. About 28 commands work the way you'd expect (ls, cd, cat, tree, find, grep, head, tail, wc, which, man, history, mkdir, touch, rm, cp, mv, echo, env, sudo, open, clear, pwd, whoami, date, uname, vi, vim). Tab completion, piping where it makes sense, and a help if you get stuck.
I keep adding commands when I'm bored, suggestions welcome.
Try help or just ls.
PS. Can you find the Easter-egg?

A colophon is a page or section (typically in a footer) of a site that describes how the site is made, with what tools, supporting what technologies, and often published on personal sites at a top level /colophon page. (Source: https://indieweb.org/colophon)
Do you maintain a colophon for your website? If so, please share it here. It will be nice to see how other people from the HN community set up their websites, what technologies they use and what choices they have made.
If you do not have a colophon page, please feel free to share the details directly in a comment.

I've been mulling over whether I should combine my personal website and my blog for some time now.
I currently treat my personal site as a lightweight “overview” page: who I am, what I work on, and a way to get in touch for opportunities. My blog, on the other hand, is where I explore ideas and interests that are mostly unrelated to my day job. I don’t really blog about my work; it’s more of an intellectual playground. For this reason, I keep the two separate.
However, I see the argument for keeping them together: It's good for branding, and can help someone get a complete picture of who you are when they land on the site... What does HN think?

Hello HN! I am putting together a community-maintained directory of personal websites at https://hnpwd.github.io/. More details about the project can be found in the README at https://github.com/hnpwd/hnpwd#readme.
As you can see, the directory currently has only a handful of entries. I need your help to grow it. If you have a personal website, I would be glad if you shared it here. If your website is hosted on a web space where you have full control over its design and content, and if it has been well received in past HN discussions, I might add it to the directory. Just drop a link in the comments. Please let me know if you do not want your website to be included in the directory.
Also, I intend this to be a community maintained resource, so if you would like to join the GitHub project as a maintainer, please let me know either here or via the IRC link in the README.
By the way, see also 'Ask HN: Could you share your personal blog here?' - https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=36575081 - July 2023 - (1014 points, 1940 comments). In this post, the scope is not restricted to blogs though. Any personal website is welcome, whether it is a blog, digital garden, personal wiki or something else entirely.
UPDATE: It is going to take a while to go through all the submissions and add them. If you'd like to help with the process, please send a PR directly to this project: https://github.com/hnpwd/hnpwd.

Hi everyone,
I have a personal website made with 11ty that I push to Cloudflare. I set it up this way since it was super simple and free. A few pages of text.
I am planning to build it out a bit and add things like a photo gallery and a newsletter / blog. So I am thinking about moving it over to a hosted server so just wanted to ask if anyone had any recommendations. I have some (old) experience as a sysadmin so I'm comfortable setting stuff up but I don't want to spend all my time scripting; the content is more important to me at the end of the day. I do have dreams of adding stuff longterm like my own analytics, bot pits, mail server, etc. but we'll see what I have time / priority for :) I'm US West if there's a non-hyperscaler anyone recommends. Would like to keep costs low.

Hi HN,
I built Paje (https://paje.ai) because I hate keeping my personal site updated. Paste your LinkedIn URL, pick a template, and you get a clean website. You can buy and connect your domain right on the site.
It works, but I genuinely don't know who needs this.
Freelancers? Job seekers? People who know they should have a site but never build one? I'm too close to see clearly.
Brutal honesty welcome. Does this solve a real problem for you, or am I just scratching my own itch?
