I like being able to use Procreate or other image editing software on my iPad, and the only reason I’d consider a foldable in the first place is because I’d like to use it like I use my iPad. What’s so bad about having the option to use a stylus? Who cares what a dead tech oligarch once thought of styluses? Especially when the state of the technology wasn’t where it’s at now. If you could ask Jobs now, maybe he would have changed his mind.

Debunked by whom? The ministry of truth? Are we not supposed to do basic cause and effect inference? And which part has been debunked? The salute, or the austerity and deaths due to USAID cuts? Yeah, actual Nazis who commit administrative murder of a non-zero number of people in Africa who died from preventable diseases due to the DOGE USAID cuts. Some might call it administrative eugenics. I heard the guy who did that also threw a pretty obvious gesture that shows support for that ideology. I choose to believe my eyes and my functioning brain, thanks.

Interesting to find this comment, I’ve been dipping my toes into formal methods and was doing a RCoq tutorial yesterday (really basic stuff), and I also noticed that the proofs in RCoq have a more pen -and-paper proof feel to them.

This comment almost made me quit my job and pursue my original passion in architecture. So the job was, all along, as fun as I imagined it… And the full-stack knowledge to make it happen is still rare? I am currently designing my house in Blender and was planning to import it into Unreal Engine to make it navigable. HN has a way of serving me the content I’m looking for at the right time…

I fully support Biden administration’s stance on [2], you have to take positive discrimination case-by-case (because sometimes it’s bad). Quotas are bad. I’ve certainly been on your side before — arguing about the negatives in the way DEI has been administered. What I will tell you is that the answer isn’t whatever this is, and this is certainly a “crackdown.”

It outperformed the west in some things, notably not computing (which sealed its fate). I agree though. But I think there’s also something to be said about the way in which the experiment ended. Compared to the bloody, violent disintegration of most historical superpowers, the dissolution of the USSR was a remarkably swift, self-inflicted, and low-violence event.
