ACDSee old versions (2.6.1?) would preload the next image in memory while scrolling through a folder, making it extremely useful in the age of hard drives. It became bloated, but the only reasons to switch were for newer image formats, and sometimes .gifs would crash it.
FastStone Image Viewer is the performant, slick image viewer I use now.
IrfanView has some rough defaults like if you scroll to the end of a folder, a window pops up that you have to click away before you can scroll back. I use it all the time for simple editing, not viewing.

That's the final blow for me. The last use case was when esoteric discussion there would be one of the few search engine results.
I've already long ago edited out all my old posts and deleted the accounts. So sad to see sites grow to become gated advertiser-friendly communities.

I don't use kagi. On WA, this search results in the answer with a prompt with the engine's assumptions, and includes a link to change the assumption to "math" from "word."
These prompts don't show on kagi? Seems like including them would be an avenue for improvement.

Depressive hole here. Seeing the concept of finding my first job in tech as near hopeless for someone like me, who has weak network/hustling skills. Going to events I've met other unemployed people, many friends/acquaintances are unemployed or laid off, and differentiating myself from any of them is a social challenge I've never prepared for. It feels worse when it's apparent that to do so, I need relevant work experience and what relevant education I have is not what counts.
When I consider the advice to seek an "adjacent" position and then move to the role I want internally, it feels like I'm in an even worse position because to work tech support, any customer-facing experience is preferable, meaning anyone who's worked retail has yet another leg up on me.
Well, you asked. I'd rather not try to give advice even if I have any.

I also have a bunch of SBCs lying around waiting to be used, and also an ODROID HC2 which has been in use for years. I only dislike that it's not powerful enough for encryption--LUKS + samba could not read/write at disk speeds and was unreliable in my testing.
Really wish there would be an upgrade to the HC2 with about three to four times the performance.

I know we all like big numbers but
>said to have read speeds of up to 100 MB a second and write speeds of up to 90 MB a second
is useless to say, especially when write caches exist. I only care about minimum speeds, short of in depth analysis. The card is V30, which guarantees 30MB/s write.

Well, the Rittenhouse case had a very important moment when the victim admitted that, while looking at a freeze-frame view of a video taken when he was shot, he had raised his pistol which was pointed at Rittenhouse only a fraction of a second before.
