That still feels like more external tooling, plus letting the distro make my packaging decisions. I am already using mise, so this is an almost free boon without more complexity.

I am quite intrigued. With the sorry state of security, I am doing everything in VMs and have been trying to settle on the best way to setup a new machine. The process is so clunky that I end up defaulting to bigger instances than I should (more pets than cattle).

Being able to centralize this config is far more attractive than having a separate Ansible or pyinfra process.

Edit: The docs on this are very encouraging! However, it is not clear- what is experimental? Anything notably buggy or churning? Any far off features you hope to implement some day?

History shows that there have been many Microsoft executives with a vision of building a new, perfect GUI toolkit. They all were released half done and quasi supported to this day.

I like this read. Eventually, management did collectively realize that tokens spent leaderboards were a bad idea. That is going to massively reduce the waste that was needlessly being generated to hit work quotas.

Sure seems like free money. In normal times, there is a chance this could get blocked, but a favored media outlet of the administration seems a lock.

Also, look at the five day chart. Shot up from $120 on Friday. Bunch of insiders knew early.

Can you clarify the DRM comment? Do streaming services not work or they get downscaled to some garbage resolution?

I am looking for options and being able to sideload on a Shield is attractive, but if the experience is no different than a homemade Linux HTPC, I can save the cash.

This is also describing an interview scenario where the interviewee is trying to throw everything at the wall hoping to stick. Sure there is discretion in how much to elaborate, but it is a performative act, where someone is trying to demonstrate that they have deep knowledge about a topic and can appreciate nuance that not everything is black and white.

All of the predictions I see are of the type, “If nothing changes and reserves are depleted, prices will spike to very high levels.” We have yet to bottom out reserves, so yeah, prices have yet to hit record levels, but we are moving there day by day. There was a lot of slack oil in the system before this started, but it can only last so long.

Everything I have seen about balcony solar requires it to be grid dependent and cannot backfeed.

Huh. I thought the field had mostly soured on wave power due to the incredible engineering challenges. Cheaper+easier to do wind or solar. I guess you can slap “For AI” onto anything to overcome the economics.

Can we realistically send humans to Mars plus the return trip? I would maybe believe we can do a one way trip and leave those astronauts to die after snapping some pictures.

Hardly a gotcha. Having the robot refuse or deliberately mislead directly impacts potential utility.

Say, I work for Planned Parenthood and want to use a LLM to help me develop code. Will it refuse to run because there are mentions of abortion? Everyone has a different censorship line, but unfiltered is more generically useful.

It is a bittersweet victory. Petroleum demand is going to be forever destroyed -if you were on the fence about scaling renewables, all doubt has been eliminated. Energy dependence is a strategic nightmare, with a proven solution available for the taking. Solar, batteries, EVs, whatever you can install, as quickly as possible. There are already regional stories where solar-friendly Spain is seeing lower price changes than Italy because the renewables are lessening the impact of the closure.

However, if you were financially struggling before this happened, you are in for a world of hurt. Food, fuel, fertilizers, and dozens of downstream refined products are going to see large price increases for months to years.

In 2025, renewables generated more energy globally than coal (neck and neck tie, but renewables just edged out coal). This trend is likely to continue.
