I recently did not get a job I was a really good fit for and they were kind enough to send me some feedback as part of the rejection letter.

Reading them made me realise that if they just asked to clarify some of those points I would’ve easily explained them, which is something that still stings when I think about it.

Having interviewed people in the past I really feel like this is an amazing tool: not only is a great way to see how people react to feedback but also a way to understand more about a candidate especially if they are anxious or shy. Thanks for sharing

I had a business account that got banned due to inactivity. I make apps and I often update them ota, long story short the account it took ages to verify via DUNS and the phone number requirements got nuked. Can’t even reopen it, had to create a new one with a new email, no human to speak to, a nightmare due to the same duns number being on both accounts. Plus the recent forced 14 days of app testing. It’s comically bad, when I compare it to iOS it almost feels intentionally antagonistic to devs. Android has always been challenging (fragmented phone os mainly) but now has gotten to the point of not even being worth spending time there, especially since iOS tends to convert dramatically better

I have been working on the latest update to my app: Wrote Myself a Letter which I finished after being laid off. The idea is to send a letter to your future self, which I personally find very therapeutic in many ways, but what is important is the app is fully offline, has 0 tracking, ads or subscriptions. It's a once off purchase and own forever, which is something I wish was more common these days. Check it out and, if for any reason you can't afford it just write me and I will send you a key.

Yes, I take your point, we actually ended with a center space for caption plus more space at the bottom for a secondary caption. To make a perfect square, yes, you would need it off-center.

It can be configured, by default there is a gap in the middle (35 cells) to write a caption. If you want a full square, 365 will never work. But each parameter is configurable and you either end up with a different aspect ratio or more gaps to write captions.

Hi Hacker News,

First post, hope it's all a-ok!

My partner and I had a baby this year. For their first birthday my partner wanted to print a big (a0) sized square of 365 photos one photo per day, in order. All existing solutions (including Canva) either crashed or outputted a very small, non-print friendly file.

So I made her one.

* You give it a folder of photos. * It sorts them by EXIF date. * It lays them out in a square grid. * It reserves a center space for a title. * It outputs a print-ready file. * No uploads, no accounts, no tracking. * Works fully offline.

It’s intentionally opinionated, you don't really design, you feed it photos and enjoy the output. I might add intelligent cropping at one point, the way we did it: * Crop photos, transfer to PC, run script -> print

I’m open-sourcing it because heaps of people at the party wanted to do something similar, so maybe some of you will find it useful. This has been tested in the real world and indeed produced an a0 poster in 500dpi.
