I'm having a hard time visualizing how I could use only one interface. How would the rest of the devices connects? Or are you suggesting using as a wifi only router?

I’m fairly certain if you showed pictures of both groups to a toddler they’d be able to sort them correctly. It’s really not hard for a human to tell the difference. Which tells me that FB’s AI isn’t really that great.

> The sage wisdom from the ILM professor was essentially to avoid pissing off rejected candidates by not interviewing them, as interviewing is a signal that the employees are qualified.
It makes sense, if the candidate is interviewed + rejected they know there is no upward mobility for them in the company. The next logical step is to look for employment elsewhere that may offer upward mobility.

I switched from Linux to an M1 MacBook Air when it came out. I just don't sign into iCloud or use the app store and I have a pretty great experience. The battery life is fantastic and I just install applications from developer's websites.I use FireFox for browser, built in Terminal, Enpass (password manager), Parallels Desktop (VMs), Thunderbird, and Joplin for notes. That's really all I use. So no need for any of the other Apple ecosystem. I do use brew to use stuff like tmux and a few other cli tools.

Law Enforcement can also get access to that metadata -- it's called a mail cover. See U.S. v. Choate.
"A mail cover is a surveillance of an addressee's mail conducted by postal employees at the request of law enforcement officials. While not expressly permitted by federal statute, a mail cover is authorized by postal regulations in the interest of national security and crime prevention, and permits the recording of all information appearing on the outside cover of all classes of mail."

If the process of identifying the images is done on the device, then a jailbroken device will likely give an attacker access to the entire DB. I'm not sure how useful it would be, but if the attacker did have access to actual known CSAM images it probably wouldn't be hard for them to produce false positives and test it against the DB on the jailbroken device, without notifying the company.

Why would they hoard it in the camera/iPhotos app? I assume that storage is mostly pictures taken with the device. Wouldn't this be the least likely place to find a hoard of known images?

Couldn't the hack just be as simple as sending someone an iMessage with the images attached? Or somehow identify/modify non-illegal images to match the perceptual hash -- since it's not a cryptographic hash.

There is a fairly large caveat to this and it happens to also deal with children.
18 U.S. Code § 2258A - Reporting requirements of providers
In short, it requires ESPs to report incidents of child exploitation that they become aware of to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
According to NCMEC's published data there were over 20 million reports in 2020. The latest breakdown by ESP I could find was from 2019, which shows facebook making 15 million reports.
https://www.missingkids.org/content/dam/missingkids/gethelp/...
EDIT: Here's the 2020 report:
https://www.missingkids.org/content/dam/missingkids/gethelp/...
