I wonder if this is because of one broadcast character generator or something deciding to use it and people cloning them, or just being the best choice at the time? I've never heard of PFR and find those kinds of parallel-universe standards interesting

They acquired Plastic SCM around 2020 and I believe they integrated it into the engine, but that was shortly after I stopped using Unity

Personally it's the same way you look at a thing and get a mental sense of "this is that thing" without having to scan every detail right away, you look at a chunk of a sentence or words and get the sense of its meaning, and you can vocalize that in your head if you want to

I think whatever Javascript you made your AI write to do that is causing scrolling to be incredibly laggy on a phone and warm my entire device; Pixel 7a in Firefox.

edit: it's something you (Claude) are doing with text rendering. Zooming in on any text makes it exponentially worse.

It's obvious when you don't give a shit about design. It's extremely obvious when you lie about making something that a machine output when you don't give a shit about design yourself. Everybody sees this.

My bad, I had skimmed the wiki to confirm but I did misinterpret it as only storing NBT data for user-placed blocks, regenerating the rest. It makes sense why that wouldn't work.

I think "storing deltas" based on seed is largely how Minecraft saves the level already, but you could probably strip out a bunch of useless metadata to get it smaller

I would love to see a 'flag as AI' coupled with a profile setting to hide posts that have had a certain number of AI flags. Allow people who don't want to see likely AI content to filter it silently.

That, or the model writing it already had "You are an AI model instance" sitting at the beginning of its context ready to pull from. Telling it it's an AI pushes it to make text about AI.

A terminal UI is the best thing we pipe through SSH because it's the tool we built specifically for piping a terminal UI. Abandoning Xorg has admittedly made streaming a GUI over SSH less simple, but still not impossible, and you can forward whatever data you want (a VLC stream of a 4k movie) with tunneling.

I do agree that new Linux users who have different needs from their computers might cause some incentive to change some of these 40 year old UX decisions. We don't really have a modern, capable remote desktop solution at least on par with RDP.
