Show HN: I asked Claude to turn 20 years of my research into a game

I'm a professor of advanced technology transitions at ASU, and part of my work includes pushing at the edges of what frontier models can and can't do. Out of curiosity I asked Fable 5, via Claude Code, to research the past two decades of my research and design a browser game from it — something that would stand up as a game on its own, but that genuinely reflected the work.

Over 90 iterations later (this was a long collaborative effort) the result was Hyperbubble — a one-button browser-based game where your task is to navigate your character through a future of emerging technologies, complex risks, transformative possibilities, and unexpected delights, all while protecting and growing their state of “flourishing.” Each element of the game tracks back to aspects of my work — even the seemingly weird ones!

Sharing as an example of how emerging AI capabilities are allowing complex ideas to be translated into modes and platforms that would have been exceptionally difficult to achieve without them (or prohibitively costly).

The game itself is one self-contained HTML file — procedural graphics, synthesized soundtrack, no libraries, no build step, no signup. MIT licensed. The leaderboard is a ~120-line Cloudflare Worker holding five fields per entry and nothing personal: no accounts, no emails, pseudonyms only. Best on desktop or tablet; playing on mobile works but isn't tuned yet, which is the next job.

Show HN: AI movies and dystopian/utopian futures

I was struggling to find a really good database of science fiction movies where AI was instrumental in bringing about dystopian or utopian futures — and so I created one and ran the analysis.

It's an issue! As someone who's worked on science policy for decades, including time in the Beltway, you cannot develop a robust and world-leading science policy strategy with technologists alone!

I find it depends on context. I write a lot as an academic and author. When I need to generate functional content that has a specific purpose (knowledge base, transfer of information etc) I will use AI where it makes sense. Where I write to explore ideas, develop my own thinking, and connect with others in a very relational way, I intentionally do not use AI. Plus, when I do this, writing is an extension of my identity and I'd rather not give that away!

I suspect the lack of consequences to getting mad help - no relationships that can be broken and that need mending. Not sure it's healthy, and yes, I do it when Claude simply does not get it or I know i could do better :)

My experience is that it all comes down to personal fit and feel. I switched from ChatGPT to Clause several months ago and much prefer it - although do get frustrated at glitches and hitting limits. But I'm a writer and academic, and the LLM fits my purpose better. With what I do ChatGPT does nott feel great to use.

Looks like a useful tool - just beginning to explore adding llms.txt to my sites. Frustrated that because it isn't a standard many LLMs will not look at or use, but a potentially low friction step toward future proofing!
