I like this compromise.

One of my issues is the lack of liability in practice. The poster is technically liable but they're anon, behind proxies, foreign, etc. and unaccountable. It results in people being harmed online without recourse.

These companies should have a duty to know who their users are.

They have a strategy of adding as many dumb slow abstractions as possible so the multi trillion dollar company can minimize the devs on their payroll.

You used to be able to set your VCR to record the show at a certain time (and skip the ads by fast-forwarding). DVRs exist too. We have lost a lot of freedom.
