Recently, I took an intercontinental flight, and the plane had complimentary Starlink internet and Live TV channels throughout the whole journey for all cabin classes.
I know the technology has been around for a while but watching a World Cup game in real-time whilst soaring at 1000kmh/35,000ft over the Arabian desert sounds like science fiction decades ago.
That's just one small example. I think that the hedonic treadmill is hitting people at a much higher rate than before.

It is definitely the life-action role playing definition. As in you’re LARPing a successful company with high cash flow. I know it has nothing to do with actual role playing, it’s just the popular way of calling someone a poser on the internet at the moment.

The incel, the rad fem, the regular liberal, the happily married person, the casanova; they will all tell you some variety to stay in your own lane and shut up. They will all use different language, but the meanings will always be the same: they live a life of constant loneliness and have found kinship with others who agree that to ever do something to counter that loneliness is beyond abhorrent behaviour.

> Persona 3
I've been playing Persona 3:Reload recently and little things like the pause menu [1] and the overall visual presentation clearly have so much deliberation and thought put into them that they feel like interactive art pieces rather than menus. This pretty much extends to every recent Atlus game [2].
[1] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4d6x1CIgLSc

I had a similar experience when I was looking for YouTube videos on the Intel i7-4790T, it's a relatively obscure CPU that was only found on small-form factor pre-builds during the Haswell era. The only recent videos I found were slop videos [1] narrating a script clearly generated by an LLM, with a link to their Amazon affiliate in the description. The CPU has never been put on retail sale! These channels upload a dozen times a day on random products just to get an affiliate commission.
[1] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YpHUBC681iU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0w5a33Jeen0

> If it were up to TikTok and Meta, our feeds would be exclusively robot-made. Humans are a variable they cannot control, and I think they despise us for it.
OpenAI’s Sora mobile app is the experiment to see if human beings will tolerate total AI content consumption. We’ll see how that will go.

I'm pretty sure this is in response to the flood of Sora anime parodies that have flooded TikTok in the past 48 hours. Seems like OpenAI is acknowledging some strongly worded letters from anime rights holders rather than individual artists, or the response wouldn't be this swift.
