And yet a billion people in this world are starving... Cutting back on industrial agriculture means participating in a genocide, basically.
Some geeks here are coming up with sci-fi ideas of producing food in vertical farms, or underwater, why don't we start by simply using existing techniques?

Effective allocation of resources means firing people that are not necessary for the company.
Also “people aren’t just workers” might be true in general sense, but for the company they are exactly that: workers. Their private lives are not the company’s concern. They shouldn’t be. The thing I hate the most is when my employer tries to take care of my wellbeing outside work. I consider that invasive of my privacy.

OP mentioned that the coffe shop show was staffed with 17-20 years olds. They don’t need to earn 20 bucks per hour, they don’t need to be able to afford mortgage, or even rent apartment by themselves (they can have roommates). No one would work such job their whole life anyway. It’s temporary almost by definition

> (insulation, ending car dependency, and legislating products that aren't landfill help the poor rather than hindering them)
That's not at all what "Fit for 55" program is about. I agree, those things, over long enough timespan (say, 20 years) could be net positive. Instead, "Fit for 55" means imposing additional "carbon tax" on many industries, and on goods imported from China, based on how much carbon was emitted when producing them. And given the short, 7 years time frame the net result of those policies will be what I originally claimed: pushing everyone to poverty.
EU politicians say it quite openly really, that in order to "save us from the climate catastrophe" we need to sacrifice the standard of living.

I think it is just a draft, given more time they could come up with better units.
The thing is, Might and Magic RPG series was always merge of both worlds: creatures looked mystical, but you were made aware that the story takes place on some distant planet (and occasionally you visited a spaceship, and shot a blaster). Having Forge faction in Armageddons Blade would be a direct continuation of the plot introduced in Might and Magic VII: For Blood and Honor, but I think 3DO did not realize that Heroes series created their separate fanbase, not familiar with the RPG games at all...

public transit already is subscription model: you buy a ticket for a ride, or the monthly pass. It is even easier to deny you access to some form of public transport already (think subway entry gates, or long distance trains where you cannot really avoid ticket check). All this follows Klaus Schwab vision for the mankind "you'll own nothing and you'll be happy".
