I am prescribed an MAOI (tranylcypromine). Coffee and chocolate are perfectly safe to eat, along with most foods. The foods you really need to avoid are highly aged cheese, leftover or improperly stored meats, and fermented foods like soy sauce or kimchi. Even of those foods to avoid, you typically need to eat large quantites of them on an empty stomach to get a life threatening reaction.

I used to take theanine in college, and this was my experience even over a decade ago.
Suntheanine was consistently effective and most of the other brands were seemingly inactive or unnoticable. I've always had to order online as all of the brands I've bought in store seem to be bunk.
Even still I found tolerance to rise quickly with daily theanine use.

During HS/college I resolved to pursue a career doing something at least somewhat interesting / somewhat practical / potentially fulfilling on some imagined philosophical level without regard to maximizing earning potential.
I was so wrong lol; find philosophical satisfaction when you don't have to work on anything you don't want to do. Seems really obvious now haha... ah well.

They don't, they are drastically different in character. There are close similarities within classes between some of the lysergamides, substituted phenethylamines or tryptamines. But even closely structurally related analogues can be extremely different (ex. 2C-E vs DOET vs 2C-C).
LSD is almost nothing like psilocybin or mescaline or DMT. And nothing is like salvinorin...

I synthesize proteins to sell on an industrial scale. When I started working here a few years ago I noticed much of the programming/prep work could be easily automated, so I did. In many cases I could at least double productivity.
None of these improvements ever resulted in getting a raise, or a faster promotion, or getting to go home earlier. All it earned me was extra time to do other people's work, or to stare at the floor and look like a lazy unproductive employee.
I never had any real expectations otherwise; I did it out of boredom. But still I feel stupid for having done it at all.

I lost two friends to ALS within the span of a year. Barring huge advances in treating this, which I don't see happening anytime soon, I fully plan to take the easier way out should it ever happen to me. Horrific doesn't even begin to describe it.
Medically assisted suicide should be a federal right. It's abhorrently shameful that we wouldn't allow a dog to die this way, yet somehow it's acceptable to watch a parent or spouse to go through this with NO HOPE of recovery. It makes me so angry.

What is "disrespectful to people with adhd" is fucking with our med supply in order to prevent the horrific scenario of someone studying for a math test past their bedtime. Like, surely you see that right?
I want to move on with my life, instead I need to play games every couple weeks filling my prescribed meds because people are resentful that their peers back in college might have studied longer for a test? Are you fucking kidding me.

do you understand how often there are issues filling one's adhd prescription on time even before the shortage? Almost every month the pharmacy is out of stock for a couple days. Very few people sell their couple of extra pills, they are saved for the inevitable delays in filling scripts.
And honestly? Why is this even being discussed, as if college kids getting adderall to study for math tests is some societal scourge ruining lives or something? Who gives a shit and why is it an issue that justifies making life difficult for people who are prescribed it?

Oh I absolutely agree with him. The opioid crisis is tragic but denying people medication for their injuries, illnesses, mental health (adhd) in a completely ineffective attempt to curb a crisis that is mainly caused by the importation of cheap fentanyl analogs is the greater of two evils.

This seems to suggests that data hoarders mainly derive their satisfaction from actually filling up a hard drive. For me, the satisfaction is from having instant access to organized libraries of music and video of generally far higher fidelity than you can stream with current technology. There are currently no streaming services that can stream UHD 4k movies at a quality that is close to even a normal 1080p blu ray never mind an actual UHD blu ray. I'm very into film and the difference in video and sound quality, which most people will not notice or care about, is pretty significant to me. An uncompressed BR rip is 30-100 GB so even a fairly curated library can quickly outgrow drive space that most people couldn't fathom a sane person using.
I have probably filled at least 60TB of drives in the past year alone since my ISP has been ignoring data caps, and that is besides the large amount that IS deleted, as I do not archive anything that's been lossily compressed after being ripped unless a higher quality version does not publicly exist.
I "hoard" TOSEC libraries for every conceivable console and consumer computer system from ~1970 up to the PS3, but don't archive PC games past the DOS era, because Steam exists as a better service than I can provide for myself, so I use that. There is no equivalent service for music or film or Amiga games.

Something this 32-year-old Millennial has been wondering for the past 15 years since I first took notice of this avocado toast genre of journalism crossposted to places like Metafilter: does the NYT only cover intergenerational conflict within the confines of ultra-trendy startups? I can't relate to any of these people nor could I imagine myself or my collegues at any of the places I've worked across the country ever engaging in any of these conversations.
For the record, most of the 37-year-olds I know who didn't go to work in comp sci, engineering, trades, or medical device sales have been in more or less the same sort of career purgatory since 2009 that Gen Z can look forward to in their immediate future. In a way I envy them because they get to skip the emotional rollercoaster of starting from a position of hope and lofty expectations. I think.
I know for sure that the 59-year-old executives calling the shots at the biotech company I work for aren't afraid of the 37-year-olds or the 23-year-olds, as it's long been made clear that everyone is equally disposable.
