And you don't understand that my point of discusison is not a point of the masses but a logical one.
It doesn't matter if religion also sees this as sacred because religion and religous people stoped thinking and moved their goal post to "the bible says and god".
Alone having your goal post at this point is a strong indicator that the thinking is flawed.

We are still in the middle of the AI race. Commodity hardware is easy to use, can do everything and is fast enough.
Your optimized hardware chip might be obsolete before its back from the fab.
SOTA Frontiermodelhardwarechip is a benchmark point of a potential model slow down.
Google is doing it right now under project Frozen v2 which should be ready by 2028? which is either just a small experiment or flexible enough and thats why it takes so long for it to happen.

Try a bigger code base or more complex stuff and you will easily see that the solution, speed and amount of problems Opus5.5 solves vs older models is relevant.

I do a broad amount of diverse experiments/projects I always wanted to do and throwing Opus5.5 against it just works
I have to admit, Sonnet got really good too.
But Opus just uses tools, a broad spectrum of it, etc. it feels like sure if you add some router behind it you could split it up if you need to but if you give me the choice, its opus allll day long.

By Musk, from a company who was doing an IPO and has to deliver flashy things fast.
Don't overestimate the relevance to this.

I think this already happens through Mixture of Experts which is now build in to ost models.
But finding out what an LLM needs to understand from a business side to write your code good, is an otpimzation which no one cares currently.
I'm pretty sure we either stay on big full frontier models for a long time, just use them for everything or we will start to see more and more people doing finetuning/project specific training like java + german + english + business contxt xy;
It will be an indicator for the whole industry.

For sure people who don't grasp the difference between models, might be stuck in 'good enough' models.
But Opus 5.5/GPT is such a game changer in comparison to sooo many others, its still a moat for now.

I do have family and this discussion shouldn't be about religion it should be above religion.
Its not about a believe its about thinking beyond.
Religious believes are not that deep. They provide a basic answer without depth to questions we have.
'Sacred' is just a very basic answer to a complex topic. Its like 'where is my goal post? Oh its over there by 'Sacred''.
You need to be above religion to be mental free btw. and you also make a basic mistake: Just because i have certain views on one level, doesn't mean that I live them like this.

Its a fundamental question to us what consciousness is, who has it, what levels or qualities of it gets.
Only 50 years ago the nazis dehumanized mentally and bodily disabled people.
Other cultures to this day lock humans away with mental illness because they don't understand it.
The complexity of LLMs reached already dimensions that are not that far away from the complexity of human brains and we are only at the beginning of this journey potentially.
World models are getting developed and we havent even tried to build systems similiar to what our brains architecture with a default mode network would look like. We only throw massive amount of resources onto LLMs.

Why?
The sun will become a red star in 5 billion years. We have voids in our universe which are not crossable.
From my pure nihilistic view, it doesn't matter, never has, never will. From an idealistic view: we are humans, i value the uniqueness of mine and the complexity and uniqueness of everyone else being part of my experience.
What is your "higher view"? whats your pedestal?

Your own reaction shows a certain level of thinking / quality of thinking or depth of thinking.
Its hard to describe or explain this to you because you will only realize this when you look back after you thought more.
Babies are not sacred. You and me are not sacred. Humans are not sacred.
Our biological programming / priming gives us this 'feeling'.
And consiousness alone is not the thing which makes us not kill most humans, after all we still kill babies and humans daily.
Alone the word sacred is weird in this context. A lot more of questioning the level of consciousness.
Btw. the lucidity you mentioned, might be a conscious experience in development. it might be the same as what you do, it might be not. You point it out because for you its the quality of a human

I really really don't like her take on this.
It doesn't answer or discuss fundamental questions about consciousness.
I don't believe that what we describe as consciousness is the quality what separates us from everything else.
We are more complex for sure, but this is a complexity thing emerged from us.
'AI' as it is right now, doesn't has similiar qualities of what we describe as consciousness but this doesn't matter that this can't happen.
She says things like sharing an inner world, were is the beef of her thinking about this being relevant?
A hive mind could exist with this exact feature.
Give AI a body, a context window a lot bigger, a inner world based on this etc. we might be fara way of building what we build in our brains, we might not.
But we for sure discovered a level of complexity in neural networks of tihs magnitude.
