This is the correct response. I use both GrapheneOS and LineageOS. But LineageOS focus is on delivering newer versions of Android to many phones abandoned by their OEM. GOS exclusively focuses on security and privacy. If you want a reasonably secure phone but don't want Google or Apple inside your device, your best bet is GOS.

Yes. They've parterned with an OEM. In fact, they are making an official GOS phone with that OEM.

Atleast you were trying to poke around their APIs. My WhatsApp account was banned totally for no reason. They blocked my two year old account for the only possible reason of using GrapheneOS. This company deserves to die.

While censorship is one thing, they forgot another overlooked ability of these app stores: pushing unwanted apps/services to our personal devices without our knowledge. The fact that the majority of people don’t care about this censorship and backdoors makes me think we don’t really appreciate the concept of freedom, and maybe we are okay with being slaves—at least until we cannot take it anymore. Maybe that’s why history repeats itself every few decades to remind us about these values.

Apple and Google dominates the entire smartphone market today. They are ad companies running on surveillance economy. In addition, their platforms are proprietary, privacy invading and freedom disrespecting.
GrapheneOS is the only security and privacy focused alternative we have today. Please support GrapheneOS by nominating them in the 2025 Proton Lifetime Fundraiser.

Instead it would be great if you join the fight against Google (and Apple) by using FOSS and independent distributions like GrapheneOS. It is the most secure and private option we have today. Most apps work as it is except a few those who purposefully use Google Play Integrity API to block independent platforms.

I unfortunately have to use WhatsApp in my country to meet basic needs. I used my account for almost two years, and suddenly it was blocked a few days ago. I submitted a review saying it must be a mistake, and then they unblocked my account with a 30‑day restriction that prevents me from initiating new chats. After three days, when I started a conversation with an “existing” business contact, my account was blocked again. The reason given was that my account was sending “spam.” It’s ironic because I’m the person who sends the fewest messages to anyone on WhatsApp.
I don’t care that a private company blocked me. What bothers me is that they have turned themselves into a centralized messaging monopoly where no one can leave the network. If users leave the network or get banned, their lives are disrupted for months.
I assume my ban might be because I’m using GrapheneOS. Is anyone else seeing a random ban on their WhatsApp account?

Reports say IPv6 is gaining market share. But most ISPs are delegating /64 prefix. This is as useless as carrier grade NAT. Atleast with IPv4, I can create NATed subnets for guests, IoT devices etc. That's not possible with IPv6.
Overall it's a negative progress. Worse than IPv4+NAT.
