Back when I was a tech journalist, back in the 90s I visited Israel once and interviewed a number of their tech companies - admittedly most in the cyber-security space.

They ascribed a lot of the tech innovation to conscription - lots of the founders had learned a lot while in technical posts in the army and put that to use when they left.

It’s not at all clear that the lab was undertaking gain of function research https://www.factcheck.org/2021/05/the-wuhan-lab-and-the-gain...

So you need a conspiracy to covertly run gain of function research and then subsequently cover up any leak

> Does anyone else remember when claiming it was a lab in China that leaked was “racist”

No. I remember it being called a conspiracy theory. And it still is.

> But it is awfully strange that the first patients of a novel pandemic coronavirus were workers at a lab conducting gain of function research on coronavirus.

Except - as far as I know - the first patients weren’t.

It looks to me like non-LLM specialist who would like a prepackaged simple, ‘safe’ way to have an always-on personalised agent.

Senior and middle managers? (not using those as pejoratives, by the way - I am one)
