What a fantastic test. I think this should be standard practice for zero days like this to put a practical "exploit ease" bounty out there. It would benefit the entire security community to have this information available in addition to the cve score!

Scores are still useful - individual context is always still on the enterprise to determine. But scores could be replaced with a list of capabilities the vuln modifies instead, for nuance. Thing is that there's a HUGE structure of scanning and reporting built on top of the CVE scores. It's load bearing for a lot of stuff.

Two points on that:

1) the government is currently doing the work and the work is critical. Yoinking the system without any replacement causes catastrophic consequences that reduce profits (and maybe get a few folks killed, but really, think of the bottom line.) Anyways, if you want to transition a critical component you do so with a plan.

2) It is critically necessary for the CVE system to be trusted by many entities worldwide. The government has historically not played favorites and had that trust. This is still mostly true. No for-profit commercial entity has that same level of trust; the for-profit model removes the ability for that trust to truly be universal.

Actually violating one person is fine, but doing anything associated with a specific industry that has applications for harm and help is not?

That's like saying it's fine to beat someone up and take their lunch, but it's not fine to learn how locks work.

How is this degrowth? Individuals who had a nice neighborhood now living next to the noise and pollution equivalent of an airport running 24/7 have a point that it sucks. Households complaining that their power flow is getting cut off but the data center isn't have a point. People whose water sources are carefully measured due to drought and loss of replenishment being worried have a point.

Growth can be done carefully and well, or it can be cancer. The current data center boom is not being done carefully and well. How you do things matters a lot.

The data centers described incorporate dedicated power generation into their design. The power generation is fossil fuel based and high-pollution, and is being deployed at scale.

There's a crust of "but that's cheating" folks who have opinions on "taking drugs to lose weight". They're ignorant, of course, but that never stopped anyone from being loud.

Same problem as always. This administration never figured out that how you do things matters. They love the drama of the crash more than actually implementing functional policies.

No, the reason not to live there is that I don't have the save civil rights as in other states. My life is, on a fundamental level, worth measurably less in Texas than that of a brainless fetus. I can't get lifesaving healthcare if I accidentally get pregnant. If you're totally cool living where around 50% of the population aren't legally your equal, you may not have done your homework on how this always turns out.
