I still use torrents to find lossless CD rips of various 80s - 90s music. Makes it easy to get multiple different releases and pick best sounding version. Buying used CDs on ebay to rip would be a chore.

It took about 30 minutes to get 3.5 MB mp3 song over dial up. I would let downloads run overnight and could get a dozen songs by next day. I would do my bulk mp3 downloading in the morning before class at schools library to immediately transfer over USB to my 4 GB Archos Jukebox hard drive mp3 player. That was around 2001 - 2003 either before schools blocked p2p or I must have been using public file downloading sites.

When I was in Seattle I noticed youtube, facebook and maybe other apps load and run faster. I was on fiber internet at an apartment. Back in Miami I was on Comcast cable but recently got fiber here as well and there was not noticeable improvement. I guess next time I'm in Seattle I will do screen recording to compare.

DC in Miami, explains why Telegram app is snappy fast for me. I notice similar speed improvement with Meta and other big tech apps when I'm on the west coast. I guess latency matters when your app is making tons of requests.

> arm64 is an IP-locked ISA, namely it is not worth assembly writting
Why is that a problem? Google search returns 3K page arm64 ISA manual. What else do you need to write asm?

I wish tech companies would stop shoving AI in my face everywhere. F off google i don't want to "ask ai" in maps. Get that ugly ai button off from messenger, meta. At least microslop winblows lets me remove crapilot buttons from apps.

I wonder if you could roll your own VPN tunnel that directly connects to your home internet IP and passes custom encrypted payload that your IT department cannot decode. Would they just drop the connection if they can't inspect what your are sending?

My CPU was at 27% (i3-4130) and 27 watts power use vs. 11w at idle. Added uBlock filter: github.com##div.signup-stars and CPU was back to 1%. Background stars animation is the culprit.
