In my experience, going from 11 to any version above it is quite trivial. 8 to 11 can be tricky, but I believe even that is easier than it was two years ago (thanks to improved library support).

Having used Paramount+ recently, it has really made me appreciate Netflix as a tech company, in addition to their FOSS contributions and other innovations. I think it's silly to say that only a company that directly sells tech (whether that be software or hardware) is a tech company.

Good health and proper nutrition is the not the baseline, as over 40% of children in the US are overweight, obese, or severely obese [1].
Two parents, let alone parents who "don't suck", is also not the baseline, as 25% of children grow up in single parent households [2].
[1] https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/hestat/obesity-child-17-18/obe...

Whenever I make a PR for a bug fix or a change in behaviour, I'll check the LOC delta. Given all I'm doing is changing an existing thing, rather than adding a new feature, I would often consider it a soft red flag if the LOC has increased substantially. Now, obviously sometimes I'll stop and think about why it went up and decide that it's inevitable, but sometimes it will help me realise I wasn't properly utilising code/logic that already existed in that service. I might not be able to have low-code/no-code, but I can attempt to avoid high-code whenever possible.

>Then an expression like (Foo bar (Baz qux)) could be rewritten as (Foo bar Baz qux)
Until you want to pass Baz as an argument of Foo. I understand the value of sugar in a language, but I also think that sometimes you don't need more than one way to skin a cat.

I used SaaS pass at work for a while, and it made my day a little bit worse every time I had to use its 2FA. The app's login on push notification thing was very slow, and would fail too often (maybe 5-10% of the time). I ended up using the QR code scanning for 2FA more often than not, but even that was slow, not even accounting for for the time it takes a human to unlock their phone and open the app. Doing thing multiple times throughout the workday was a real drag.
It's a shame, because I think the idea of it is nicer and no less secure than Google Auth, but I'd much rather enter 6 numbers than wait for the app.
Disclaimer: This was around a year ago, perhaps it's improved since.

I agree, but if you're feeling tired or overwhelmed, taking a day off is in everyone's best interest, and I don't think standing in a vertical coffin for a few minutes is an adequate alternative.

I know my expectations of worker rights are skewed by living in a country that isn't America, but that's what annual leave/sick leave/mental health leave is for. If, after all that, work is still unbearable, there's a bigger problem with that specific workplace.
