I read thru several other articles by the author. He seems to be a deeply weird person, which we certainly need more of, but unfortunately a rationalist, which we don't.

I stopped following football back when these studies started coming out and I realized it was a bloodsport, just slower.

The author got grief for playing the clarinet too, and from poking around at their other articles I think they'd have had a lousy time regardless of what instruments they might have chosen, if he hadn't got bullied about the flute he'd have gotten bullied about something else.

The basic construction of "(a) you will get harassed for action X (b) I will forcibly prevent you from taking action X therefore (c) this is a good thing" has a certain flaw to it that should be obvious.
