<p>Well, now it isn't even that we can't be convinced.  Companies have decided that they like this way of operating so they are refusing to offer what you propose.  They're more than happy to double-dip and lock people into hard-to-cancel subscriptions while continuing to hoover as much data as they can, though.<p>But even if they did offer what you suggest, the next move would be to keep people poor so they wouldn't want to "waste" money on that option anyway.</p>
