I think this is likely a very good idea. I've thought about the idea of channels a lot building https://wingman.actor and I've gone back in forth on if channel primitives are a good idea at a low level or if existing chat clients are just an already well defined utility you shouldn't rewrite.

I think your approach of a unified SDK/data structure around a chat that adapts to different clients is a really strong solution that probably just gives you the best of both worlds.

Hey HN! This is a project I've been working on for a while, it's still rough around the edges but I wanted to share it and hopefully get some feedback. Wingman is a client-agnostic agent harness (written in Go). Client-agnostic means Wingman isn’t coupled to any specific problem (like a coding agent or answer engine). It’s a portable agentic runtime that lets you build arbitrary clients on top of it.

So you can build a client to:

- Write code

- Perform automatic triage

- Classify emails

- Review a PR

and any other LLM adjacaent problem. There are surely features that exist that aren't well documented, a bunch of small bugs/race conditions, and all kinds of things I am hoping to add in the near future so any feedback is appreciated.

Wow, i sat down to do a little bit of late night coding and ended up running into this nightmare. Just canceled my anthropic subscription and started paying for opencode zen. Unfortunately opencode is enough of a better product i will indeed pay 10 times the price to use it.

Thanks for your feedback! Yeah, I think those 2 videos you mentioned are probably my least favorite that we've made. Frankly, we don't make the kind of content that I would generally consume myself so I certainly don't always give the best feedback when it comes time to give a video a title and thumbnail. I actually don't disagree with you at all. I think that is the kind of content that Luke is most suited/wants to make. Him being a close friend of mind I just want to help him succeed. My goal for this article was to be a kind've meta look at the process of it all. Super interesting to hear your perspective. Appreciate you checking out the article!
