I'm using CachyOS on my framework and after switching from windows gained about 30%-50% battery life depending on exactly what I'm doing.

C++ sees a fair amount of use and has some mature libraries written in it like the trilinos collection alongside being able to use existing C libraries. I think for other languages the limiting factor is the maturity of their linear algebra libraries and if someone has written bindings to use MPI

IIRC They were able to get net energy from the fuel versus the energy of the x-rays used to ignite it. But not in terms of the energy of the lasers used to create the x-rays by vaporizing the fuel pellet.
