Anyone tried this with a stray cat? Wonder if it works before they get used to people.

Quick runs seem handy. But if something looks a few percent faster, how do you know you didn't just get lucky? When do folks switch to a longer test?

Glad someone's keeping track. These threads always turn into “they made it dumber” vs “nah, you're imagining it.”
A few bad answers can be annoying as hell, but who knows what's behind them. I'm curious to see how the numbers look after a few weeks. Props for tracking improvements too.

I actually kinda like the idea.
The money is so small that I don't think anyone is really reading for the $0.02. But if it gets someone to pick up a book instead of scrolling on their phone, why not?
Maybe they do it for the reward at first, then after a while it just becomes a habit. Kinda like streaks in apps. I don't really care about the streak itself, but sometimes it’s enough to make me do the thing.
If the reward helps get people started, I think that’s pretty cool.

Yeah, this kinda sucks.
I don’t really care what Apple calls it. If there was one switch before, why remove it?
If this stuff takes up a few gigs, just let people turn it all off. Easy.

This is sick. Way cooler than just looking at old computers behind glass.
The fact you can actually log into some of the old Unix machines is awesome lol.
If I’m ever in Seattle I’m 100% checking this place out.

Honestly the military part isn't even the craziest thing here. It's the fact that this old, basically forgotten tech was still being used by real systems like nothing happened lol.
Makes you wonder how much ancient telecom stuff is still running somewhere just because nobody touched it in 15 years.
This doesn't even feel like a hack. More like someone opened an old door and realized nobody had checked if it was locked in forever.

The big one for me was realizing I don’t have to be “on” all day.
Slack stays muted, I check it when I’m between things, and I have a hard stop at the end of the day.
Otherwise WFH turns into being kinda at work 24/7, which sucks pretty fast.

I mean yeah, a 5090 is obviously gonna smoke a Mac lol. But that’s not really the point. If I can run this thing locally and get a video in a few minutes instead of an hour, that’s already pretty sick.
