GitHub Copilot itself is up but it is having problems with "Grok Copilot Model Provider". No mention of OpenAI or Claude.

Does this mean that GitHub has its own infrastructure for OpenAI and Claude? And that it distills prompts to Grok?

I know there are 0 comments but actually I appreciate your post. I'm a developer on the Windows platform that uses C# and Typescript extensively, so you are definitely in tune with what I'm looking for. I'm also looking to learn Rust, just for the fun of it. Thumbs up.

LLMs have no sense of geography. They measure distances between parts of words, not distances between parts of world.

  2. Local models are not "ready yet". You still have to own decent hardware and it will not be the same level of frontier models. I am big fan of local first, offline and "unlimited usage" compared to paid solutions. But probably I have to wait few or several years to get to that point.

This is why tech companies are working hard to make sure you can never build your own computer again.

The current status? If you're considering doing anything serious with Unix, absolutely you should use Linux. No question. Don't waste your time with any BSDs.

But ... if you want to teleport back to the 90s and go back to an era before Linux took off on a rocket ship to universal dominance then the BSD are for you. You will find a much more curated experience when people thought that documentation mattered. It is the road less traveled.
