Are we talking Switch original releases only or including ports? Breath of the Wild, Mario Odyssey, and Splatoon 2/3 look excellent, and Okami HD is a great port/remaster that arguably looks better than the original. I haven't bought Monster Hunter Rise yet but it looked stunning in the demo. And of course there's beautiful 2D games like Dead Cells, Hollow Knight, etc. I've found that a lot of Switch games look really good, even launch games from 5 years ago, with really the only flaw in most games being a lot of aliasing.

I think with Minecraft it's closer to the difference between a Chuck E Cheese and a barcade. Both are arcades, but one is specifically for kids and families while the other is an explicitly adult space.

From what Microsoft's said, it's less about profanity and more about taking down things like serious threats, doxxing/stalking, etc. I have no issue with moderating that, and I'm glad it's (at least in theory) not being used as a filter to keep everything that happens in Minecraft G-rated since a lot of more mature people play it. I think implementing a game-wide ban on a community that's spread across thousands of individual servers has the potential to cause so much harm if someone makes a mistake or there's a glitch, not to mention trolls gaming the system to get people they don't like banned. Content moderation at scale is impossible, and considering Minecraft's still one of the biggest games in the world, mistakes will be made.
As an aside, have you looked into putting a whitelist on your server? It could provide a lot of peace of mind, especially when you're trying to keep it to just your kids and friends.

I do support more moderation and controls over chat, because god knows when I played Minecraft as a kid I saw so many conversations that weren't exactly appropriate. Kids on servers that aren't specifically kid-friendly worry me a lot, knowing how my friends and I banter and shit-talk. This is super heavy-handed and centralized moderation though, the consequences for mistakes or errors are huge. As far as I know, getting banned also prevents you from even playing singleplayer on Xbox and there's no appeal process. I understand and support the new chat blocking settings, and maybe even something like an official ban list that applies to Realms and servers that decide to use it, but being able to permanently ban someone from an entire game is too much power.

That's the problem though. Legal gears move slowly, and you know that Kiwifarms would've kept destroying people's lives and driving people to suicide until they got shut down. I would've preferred actual legal action rather than companies dropping KF because they're bad for business, but the end goal of getting them shut down is the same.

PayPal doesn't care. A lot of artists use it for commissions, since it's really the easiest way to send money from person to person, and I've heard so many horror stories of artists getting their accounts locked for no apparent reason. Some of em get their accounts back after making a big enough fuss on Twitter, but most don't.

I think I know what site this person is talking about, and I can say that the legal system is typically out of reach for a lot of people creating the art that's stolen. It takes a lot of money to bring a lawsuit against someone, and it might not even go anywhere.

Harassment isn't something that Just Happens and it's not something that's impossible to stop or prevent. If a group of people is shooting others, would you only teach people what to do if they've been shot or would you find and take action against the people shooting others?

I absolutely agree. Some of the categories may be out there, but there are some very real and very helpful warnings/descriptors on DTDD. One time I was going to watch Annihilation with my friends, but checking DTDD showed it was more body horror-y than any of us were ready for that night. We came back to it a while later knowing that and all thought it was a great movie. Sometimes, just going in with the knowledge so you can brace yourself is helpful.

This is a really cool project. I've been looking for a way to create storytelling-focused games like some I've played, stuff that's more like a VN made in RPG Maker, but RPG Maker proper is a little expensive for a tool I'm not sure I'd use that much. This would be perfect for trying it out, definitely keeping my eye on this!

I think it'd be a good move to avoid assuming too much about what equipment someone might have. A wok isn't too far out of what even an absolute beginner may have, maybe they got it with some other cookware or as a gift.
As others have said here, the writing does come off as kinda condescending. Granted, I'm a somewhat experienced home cook and I haven't tried the app yet, but if I'm learning something, the last thing I want to do is have a tutorial app sound condescending, even if that's not the intention.

Fandom has become incredibly scummy. I only try to use it on my PC where I have adblockers and a userscript to cut out all the BS they push, and even then it's not enough. They've now turned all searches into cross-wiki searches with absolutely no way to tell if something's on the wiki you're already on until you mouse over it. If I go to The Orville wiki and search for Moclans, it gives me that wiki's page on Moclans, but also pages on Moclans from the "Aliens Wiki", a wiki for some weird ironic cartoon drawn in MS Paint, and another vastly inferior The Orville wiki where the only text on the page is "The Moclans are an alien race in The Orville." All these pages look the same in the search box, and there's no way to turn off cross-wiki search (as far as I could see). I get that they gotta make money somehow, but you should not be able to make your site horrible to use while still dominating the market because you're the easiest product to use.

The fandom creates such an incredible environment for creators to thrive in. I went to a con near me and a walk through the dealer's den showed the vast variety of creators. Of course, there were artists with prints and merch, but there were also furry musicians with CDs of albums and DJ sets, a woodworker with carvings and laser-cut journals where the pages were magnetic inserts, someone selling fursuit parts like eyes and horns made out of resin, even a small handful of adult businesses (behind a curtain and with staff checking ages, of course). Music, games, books, especially art, it's all by furries, for furries, with the exception of a few mass-market friendly franchises that furries happen to love like Beastars or Zootopia.

That weirdness does still exist, whether it's kept up from a long time ago or people making brand-new weird stuff. I got into making a site on Neocities, essentially a modern Geocities equivalent, a while back after a friend told me about it. I didn't end up sticking with it too long, but I found so many gloriously weird personal sites, projects, shrines, zines, and fan pages.

There's a new social media site called Cohost that actually allows stuff like this inside of posts. It lets people, say, recreate Blender's UI or make a Warioware microgame. It's a nice middle ground between the hellscape that is Twitter and the more self-contained DIY sites of Neocities (which is also cool, but never really stuck with me).
