I feel like this whole thing was very obviously a marketing stunt. It feels like they set up their agent to do this, in the same way Nikola set up their car to "drive" by putting it on top of a hill. And knowing Sam Altman, it's absolutely something they would do.

Now they're slashing prices across the board in a desperate bid to show some kind of growth, if not revenue.

Tend to agree with Ben's thesis RE Demis and DeepMind not really being focused on the agentic coding race. That being said, it remains to be seen whether Sergey and Koray can inspire the foot soldiers in the same way that Sama and Dario do. I'm not too optimistic, and that's to say nothing of the fact that Google cannot possibly hope to compete with these other companies on potential employee upside.

This is not a serious prediction... this is just Altman's way of saying that things are going to be very futuristic in a decade. He is NOT predicting physics and engineering breakthroughs that specifically will enable a boom in space exploration. I think it's disingenuous of the media to take this quote and run with it... it's really kind of taken out of context.

Are you really trying to say that these models aren't going to get better from here? You think that the insane progress of the last 5 years just stops right here?

The Gemini app is absolute dog doo... use it through AI studio. Google ought to shut down the entire Gemini app.
