The reason why is right in plain sight: because most women aren't actually interested in tech jobs. And before you start fuming and downvote me, go look at Scandinavian countries (countries that have the most gender equality in the world) and look at the gender disparities in tech/nursing/schoolteacher jobs. It's not the 50/50 utopian vision you think it is.

It's better to pick a region (or if in the West, maybe a state) and just visit that. Many foreigners don't realize how big the US really is. Doing cross-country roadtrips is a great way to suck up time doing nothing but driving.

Do something like visit New England for a month and stay in a new state each week.

In a way, it's absolutely hilarious. The fact that people were so outraged by this (which was a bait attempt at a meme a rational person could see a mile away) shows they're willing to be controlled by the very people they hate.

Doomsday Clock is a politically-driven relic from the Cold War era. We don't trust politicians to be experts on the climate, so why do we trust a bunch of scientists to be foreign policy experts?

I contend there's a lot of potentially existential threats out there, but to use it as a crutch for not having children is weak, especially when people still procreated through much worse times.

Yup. A bit offtopic, but these kinds of legislative plays are why something like the military-industrial complex is so hard to break.

Yeah, it'd be great to shut down that UTC plant that subsists entirely on defense contracts, but it's been in the community for 50 years and provides thousands of jobs. Good luck running for that district on a platform of wanting to kill local jobs.

Seriously, people need some fucking perspective. Yeah, things aren't too hot right now, but that's because all you do is consume the 24/7 newscycle and worry about what some nobody on Twitter is agonizing over about Disney's latest TV show. The world is the safest it's ever been. Aside from Covid, many massive killers of the past are no longer a problem. Our ancestors would be shaking their heads if they saw the prosperous times we live in now, but don't choose to have children.

Yeah, this is what the environmentalists don't really get.

Cheap meat available to the masses isn't going away. Pandora's Box has been opened, we have to deal with that. The only thing accomplished with making meat prohibitively expensive is pissing meat-eaters off (thus them resenting any environmental reforms even more), and most importantly, making it accessible only to the wealthy.

It's fine to offer healthier alternatives, but don't expect to be moving mountains. Focus more money and effort on lab-grown meat.

A decade ago, OKCupid used to be half-way decent application . You actually heard about people meeting/getting married on there. Now that all the big dating applications are owned by the same company, and they all copy Tinder, it's practically worthless.

Not everyone will hold forever. BTC's situation is really no different from gold's: it's seen as a store of value, but in the case of BTC, there's a lot of hype around it. The GME situation is related, but doesn't have the overtly greedy hedge funds at the forefront.
