If you're a thinking person (a good thing!) then it may be impossible to create some sort of self-imposed coma.

However, if the goal is to stop thinking about one type of thing (work, a failure, an event) that can definitely be accomplished. When the thought is forming, immediately begin meditation. Retrain yourself to escape or dismiss the idea on command.

Smart and inevitable, to secure dominance in the talent vertical. I remember walking into an org where none of the engineers or UX folks had Linkedin accounts. They didn't need it to land in a healthy workplace w/ a decent salary. They were active on GitHub instead, had Angellist profiles. One of them mentioned LI's InMail tool drove him away. Another said he can network just fine with Meetup and twitter.

I like to remember that there's no arrangement of facts that is objective. The process of _selecting_ facts is subjective.

I read AP Press Guide to News Writing to see how stories are manufactured. It was illuminating.

"Breaking news" has its place, but when information is sparse, we seem to be subject to the most fabrication.

This is an excellent idea. I see retail/apparel execs struggle through Excel all day. Considering they're creative-minded and visual learners, I'm surprised no alternative has been adopted

Spotify's ad studio (and sales team) deserve more acknowledgement. I don't pay for a Premium account, but I'm a daily user. I find the ads tolerable, the voices relevant. And they dont interfere with my enjoyment of the platform.

In contrast, the ridiculous ads on Pandora is what sent me to Spotify. I can only assume Pandora has low inventory, because I'm getting ads for a tractor company 30 miles away. I'm a Sr dev, listening to Drake, and I don't have a lawn or a farm.

The US gov considers Hispanic an ethnicity, not a race. So if you don't consider yourself one of the 5 races (white, black, American Indian, Asian, Pacific Islander) then you'd select other.

Racial identity for Hispanics seems to be a complex personal decision.

Companies are only required to "avoid discrimination."

So documenting attempts to hire and attract underrepresented people (POC), is a way to avoid discrimination lawsuits and satisfy court judgments for prior bad hiring practices.

Recruiters need to get POC into the pipeline. Then, merit based "scoring" is introduced. There's no guarantee they'll be hired.

I sleep on my side. There's no firmness option. The foam arrives in the typical "I'm a mattress box" and expands.

Worth noting that some claim it gets softer after a few weeks.

I lasted a month on $600 foam. I woke up several mornings with sore hips. Finally, I called the local rescue mission to donate it. When I explained that I felt bad passing it on to someone else, they said they are picking up a couple of these mattresses each week! It seems like it's a hard adjustment for many... zing.

USPS will automatically put a 'hold' on your mail when the home is unsafe for delivery and you'll have to pick it up from the local PO. It may be best to forward it to another residence.
