I suggest you glance at the novel Ananthem by Neal Stephenson. The core plot device is about "universities" stripping all worldly items away from the students, so they are left with simple clothes and chalkboards. Fascinating topic, well executed by Neal. One of my favorite books.

Why did they exclude Grok? Given the published philosophical differences in how Grok is trained, it would provide an interesting data point.
You can argue all day about those differences, but missing this opportunity to observe them in an objective way is disappointing.

Which humans? "Humans" are not fungible objects, no matter what the gray-wool-suit set says. The LLMs are already replacing human workers on the bottom of the food chain. Are they perfect? No. Are the humans they are replacing perfect? No. At that point it becomes about tradeoffs.
If AGI is "better at every human at everything" that is ASI, which is a different breed of cat.

What I fail to understand is this teachers assumption of financial responsibility for an expense outside their contract. What kind of union are they running? Seriously, if all of the teachers simply refused to purchase mandated equipment for their students, the district would either have to assume that responsibility, or change policy. By "doing the best for the students", the teacher allows the district to go unaccountable for their decisions, perpetuating the problem.
I love teachers, family is full of them, and maybe they shouldn't allow themselves to be used so ruthlessly by the state?
