If you're sincerely curious, Soup Emporium has an excellent review of the available literature on the topic, as of 2022. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypn3Fe_PLts

New comment by Elidrake24 in "The Origin Story of Kid Pix"

Elidrake24 — Wed, 14 Oct 2026 13:35:39 +0000

The lack of experience in a child can lead to some funny situations. I want to say this happened in first grade or so, had a teacher, Mr Macintosh, who had several of his own Mac computers available in his classroom, and Kid Pix was loaded up on them (amongst other classics of the time). I was obsessed, particularly with the Bomb, thought it was just the coolest way to clear the screen, this ostensibly serious concept of a program made fun.

I also had difficulty connecting with my classmates, combination of untreated ADHD, and issues at home. For some reason I got it into my head that the bomb was cool, so if I told the others I had a bomb in my backpack I'd be cool! This was very shortly after the Columbine massacre, and of course the policy at that moment was to immediately call in the police. They talked with me, impressed upon my young mind the seriousness of such claims, and we all thankfully just moved on.

Odd to think back on now.

Allows you to specify up front what passes you have, worked brilliantly on our honeymoon, especially when figuring out which Shinkansen reservations we needed to make.

Isn't all of the code in browser rather than serverside, so a simple Command + S would future proof yourself?

...As opposed to Twitter where I was banned for expressing an opinion that wasn't in line with the site owner's personal opinions. At least with Bluesky, you can opt out of their moderation.

It isn't difficult to fact check this; the markup is ~$80 from what I can buy independently, not factoring in general extra cost for mini-pc parts.

And soon I won't be able to run old 32bit binaries with the latest Linux Kernel. We all move on.

Sure, but being able to share the 'data dump' at the end of a Youtube Video is so much more fun/likely to be used.

Sure, and a simple random number generator will use significantly fewer resources for the same desired result.

New comment by Elidrake24 in "I was interviewed by an AI bot for a job"

Elidrake24 — Thu, 12 Mar 2026 13:44:52 +0000

A Human Interviewer can be held responsible for their actions, a machine, so far, cannot. Outside of the potential for cutting costs, abdication of responsibility is the number one reason we're looking to adopt these systems.

The App uses the Mac Text element rather than a custom one, so it'll have the same shortcuts as all of them; `⇧ Shift ⌥ Option ⌘ Command V` to paste and match the formatting of the current field (in the case of a blank field, remove formatting).

Hell yeah it is. They've found some success with their cases, and I'm excited to switch to their new magnetic keyboard for horizontal portable work, but I do worry this is a moonshot that will sink them.

There's an RSS feed that is exposed in the standard manner (link tag in head), precisely what you're looking for. They do not offer a paid subscription, just the option to 'buy' individual issues, which is also linked under every issue.

Elidrake24 — Sun, 26 Oct 2025 16:46:08 +0000

I can appreciate where you're coming from in general, but this article isn't that. All Headlines suck, by their nature they have to cater to the lowest common denominator in who they assume their audience is, so we're using the headline to place an unfamiliar country in a continent that is familiar enough, at least in name.

If you were dependent upon a single distribution (region) of that Service, yes it would be a massive single point of failure in this case. If you weren't dependent upon a particular region, you'd be fine.

Have people forgotten what a bookmark is? https://www.youtube.com/feed/subscriptions

And once on a video, suggestions cannot be seen in Cinema Mode, which can be made the default. Still have the ones at the end of the video I suppose, though they show up inconsistently for me, so might be a channel creator setting.
