What does the number of buzzwords and frameworks on a resume matter? Engineering is so much more than that it’s not even worth mentioning. You’re comparison is on the easiest aspect of what we do.

Unless you’re a web dev. Then youre right and will be replaced soon enough. Guess why.

Ok, but I'd like to also have _some_ idea of what I'mn voting for aside from being able to download movies for free and doing away with patents (also ridiculous on its face). I agree with you, but that doesn't make these jokers any more attractive.

Perhaps it's you taking this children's assignment too seriously. Was the goal really to find who could grow the best sodium crystal, or was it to teach them how to manage a small project and learn a bit of chemistry? Did your daughter learn anything about those things?

That teacher has a bunch of other kids to educate. Maybe they don't care, or maybe you just have your priorities screwed up a bit.

It is cool.

We're all adults and can make our own choices. Few things in life are free of risk (you drive a car I imagine). If I want to do a damn stunt I'll do it. Should we also ban most sports? Those are dangerous too. How about we stop building tall buildings? Lots of construction accidents there.

Also, the kind of accident that happened recently on set is vanishingly rare. There are a ton of safguards in place to ensure things like that don't happen and, in this case, at least one person was severely negligent.

Even those things you have decided provide marginal value employ people, and you never know where innovation will come from. Crypto is comparable to a ponzi scheme and is an asset with almost no real value, trading only on the greater fool theory.
