Why would one need to self-host TBs of content with Usenet? That makes no sense.

It's also a lot less prone to failures than debrid services, especially with old content.

Seriously? Really? It seems Herbst is the one that wants a non-inclusive environment (ie. exactly conforming to his personal political preferences). Additionally this looks like an excuse as he was already admittedly burned out.

In any case, good luck to Herbst in his future endeavors, hopefully he can develop a thicker skin.

There are more low-income people in private universities (with private or private/public loans) than in public universities.

Mine is. It's about incentives. Now you can take it from there, and at least in my interpretation the rest of your rebuttal falls apart.

There is absolutely no equivalency to slavery. That is simply dishonest. Slaves didn't choose to be slaves. Do students who take on debt have no agency whatsoever to you? Did the people who paid such debts had no agency when paying?

That's a fair point, but scaling it vertically can take you very far in my experience.
