I agree, even though he was way off on his thinking at least he tried something. The doctors told my father to go ion chemo because it would give him 2 yeras vs the 1 year he was facing with his pancreatic cancer. My sister, a oncology nurse told him not to do it, but he id. The chemo ended up causing a bile duct blockage which killing him after six months.
It is because of what Jobs did we know what not to do.

> Why does Linus Torvalds get a pass
Because he does not make a ton of money. Only a measly $150 net wroth compared to the $10 billion of Jobs.
People put up with asshles in a hope they they will get some of that stinky money.

I wish he did not smoke [4], or convert to a largely fruit diet [1,2,3,5], they both most likely caused his pancreatic cancer.
My father died of pancreatic cancer, he smoked for most of his life and ate a ton of honey. I see it in my genetics (ABO, SOD2) and luckily I quit smoking when I was very young and could never tolerate sweet foods. I also eat a high manganese diet (the cofactor for ABO), lots of mussles, and take it as a supplement on occation.
I wish Jobs were still alive, I would probably not want to sell my iphone right now because of liquid ass.
[1] https://www.uclahealth.org/news/release/pancreatic-cancers-u...
[2] https://www.aicr.org/resources/blog/glucose-fructose-and-the...
[3] https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10722142/
[4] https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC5455596/
[5] https://finance.yahoo.com/news/steve-jobs-followed-extreme-d...

Awesome for you and props! Let me tell you, doctors will gaslight patients who cure themselves because it is some kind of mental disorder they have I cannot figure out. They said THE EXACT SAME THING to my friend who also cured his UC with diet. "Well, you never had it because if you did you could not cure it." He is a Dentist and he literally yelled at them because he knew how unscientific it was what they were saying.
I am a FUT2 non-secretor who suffered with IBS-D for years. I had to cure myself as well. Very strict diet and high seaweed (it contains fucose (not fructose)). Not one doctor cares. I tell you, it is a mental disorder.

> Because evolution doesn't care about us beyond reproduction age (after which is when most cancers occur, especially considering that historically that age was between say 16 and 35).
This is the lie that needs. to die. Elder people were very important in even the most primitive societies. "lifespan" was low in pre-history, not because no one lived long lives, it was because infant mortality was very high.
https://sc.edu/uofsc/posts/2022/08/conversation-old-age-is-n...

Yes, is the tiny 25 bp decrease in the Fed Rate we just had partially responsible for this sudden uptick in equities? If so I think it marks a kind of desperation.
For the last time. I am not saying that lowering cholesterol does not lower the risk of CVD. I am saying that it is oxidized cholesterol that causes CVD, and by lowering cholesterol you are also lowering oxidized cholesterol. Cholersterol good. oxidized cholesterol bad.
pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18625445/
Oxidative modification of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) is one of the earliest events in atherosclerosis.
https://www.frontiersin.org/journals/cardiovascular-medicine...
The point of the original article is we should be focusing more on lowering oxidative stress (inflammation) instead of focusing on lowering cholesterol since 75% of people who have heart attacks have normal cholesterol.
Also, CVD mortality is lowered, but other causes of death increase.

The dismissal of anecdotal data is why science has been stalled and people are still sick.
The fact that you don’t care if one person who has high, LDL does not get heart disease is emblematic of the problem in healthcare. If one person who has high, LDL does not get heart disease then high LDL alone does not cause heart disease. There is amounts of evidence that LDL on its own, when it is not oxidized by inflammation, does not cause heart disease is something you’re consistently overlooking.
Again, and I don’t know why I have to repeat this, but I know that Laura LDL decreases cardiovascular disease risk, but that is only because if you have lower amounts of oxidized LDL, then you won’t get heart disease. But what do we want to lower, the LDL, which is needed by the body or the oxidative stress and inflammation which damages the LDL we need for our body?
