Well, sort of. They sued because they believed Macromedia infringed on their patents. That's something else than merely visual similarity.

It's the same in the Netherlands.

There is European legislation since 2024 that allows 'digital' notaries (Directive 2019/1151). Not many notaries support it though.

The result is the same. Technically there's no such thing as denying, only providing (explicit) consent. If consent is required and no consent is provided, then there is no ground for processing.

Electronic invoicing makes the live of the receiver easier. The sender has to adapt the standard.

Besides, many standards have been created over the past 20 years, yet most invoices are still only sent as PDF.

We built Pablo, a Photoshop plugin that lets you use Nano Banana (aka Gemini Flash 2.5 image) directly inside Photoshop

There’s been a lot of chatter online that, because of AI, “Photoshop is dead.” We disagree. It's true that AI editing makes photo editing more accessible, however, we believe these tools are most powerful when used by professionals inside professional workflows. Pablo is our way of bridging that gap.

There's a demo video on trypablo.com. We’ll be adding support for new models in the coming days, but we wanted to share early and get feedback from the HN community!

Litigation is not just 'file and forget'. Deno, or any other organisation, needs to contribute in time and effort for several years. In my opinion, "media attention / clout" is a fair compensation.

Not entirely true. If I'm incorporated in country A and want to offer a service in country B, I'll have to comply with the local regulations. Furthermore, most VPNs have local presence in the EU as well. NordVPN is incorporated in Panama, but also has an entity in The Netherlands.
