Kimi 2.6 or 2.8 is what we are playing with locally. They need 512GB to 1TB to run with full capabilities so that's not exactly "desktop"

There are multiple server systems available right around the $100k range that have 512B of GPU RAM right now (4x AMD Instinct MI300A)

The hotness we are seeing is smaller 'expert' models with an 'orchestrator' model in front that evaulates the prompts and routes to the appropiate small models and then synthesizes the collected answer. Easier to split across many smaller, cheaper servers and more efficient than a huge monolithic model.

I've found most of the frontier coding models require somewhere between 300GB to 1TB to run with full capabilities.

We only have one modern example of demographic crash to study... Japan.

Total economic stagnation, spiraling population numbers, loss of anything anchored to manual labor, and an aging population.

So far, it looks to be a way for slow extinction of a culture.

Loratadine plus famotidine worked for years for me (I have mastocytosis).

Switching to a keto diet helped way more, though. I still get flushes, rashes, etc., but the severity has gone down to the point they are random annoyances that go away as opposed to medical events.

Cromolyn and/or ketotifen are the big guns for mast cell disorders, though.

The Expanse would be an apt sci-fi example where almost no labor is needed and everyone survives on a bare minimum UBI unless they want to risk it all and go into space.

Let's not forget about Yann LeCun's current area of research that's completely different from LLMs: Joint Embedding Predictive Architecture (JEPA)

If he gets that style to be more efficient (they're already competitive) it'll completely kill off LLMs
