So then the entire industry stagnates and most of the companies go bankrupt because they are all selling hype about what models "will" do in the future, not what they do not, and what they do WELL now is very limited.

It can string together enough words to male mid poetry and sounds to make mid music. It has no creative ability, it is literally a mathematical system that guesses what is most likely to be the correct next token based on averages from its training data. It it physically incapable of creating anything that is not already in the training data.

Except that those are very old, very entrenched industries. We are still in the phase where we have a chance of setting some rules for "AI" before it becomes fully entrenched.

I don't think anyone is saying it should be shutdown completely. I think there is a conversion to be had about not rushing to build all these DCs when we haven't had enough time or accurate numbers to prove that the tech isn't just hype. We're seeing more and more companies that went all in now pulling back because it turned out that "AI" failed to actually provide any benefit, or so little that it wasn't worth the costs. And it's not getting cheaper.

Except it is coming out now that those audits are hollow. The fact that the AI companies are lining up to support them proves how useless those audits will be. Abbott just put out that order for political posturing leading up to the election. The entities responsible for implementing the audits (PUC & ERCOT) will drag their feet until after the mid-terms and if Abbott wins he'll conviently forget about them.

There's also tons of natural gas in Texas that either gets vented directly to atmosphere during oil drilling because its not economical to ship to where it can be sold, so provides no benefit to shareholder value.

Using the example above, if a CPU core is overheating, can you down clock that core using and instruction run on another core? I don't actually know that much about how the hardware actually works at that level, so I am genuinely asking.
