That's not the point. The point is that that isn't how young people and college students are using it now: they are using it to think for them, and that's what's going to lead to the dip in human cognitive ability that we can already see signs of. You're an outlier in using it responsibly.

Not really, I just consider OpenAI to be an active part of the flow whenever anyone uses ChatGPT to "create" something. Prompting isn't creative: the actual work is being done by OpenAI as an entity, and so in my opinion, they bear some responsibility for that.

They are a related technology, though, using transformers, some with quite similar architectures to LLMs.

Many people are saying that's why there's this sudden, coordinated media push that AI is going to cause human extinction and needs regulation: because the regulation it will get, in classic regulatory capture, will serve the needs of the frontier companies and lock out any competition to them, so they can stay in business.

I don't think they're fit to lead their nations if that's the case. Trump acts like an emotional child, and makes policy based on how he feels about a leader. That means he's easy to manipulate. Therefore, the strategy is for a group of leaders to get together as a group and call him a coward, a war criminal, a murderer (he is all of these things) and then Trump will just go insane with self-defeating policies trying to get back at them. The US can't cut off trade with the entire world but he'll try, and bring down his own country in the process. Not only has no one attempted this, they're scared to even call the proposed Canada-EU partnership an anti-US coalition. They're not even trying.

I agree with your point, but I don't think it's funny at all. The whole field is changing because of this. The career, except for those ones lucky enough to have jobs where they're valued and they can decide how to use AI tools, is turning into shit because of this and software engineers have become a lot less valuable as management is trying to turn them into reverse centaurs.

The "AI bubble" refers to the massive overinvestment in AI, and doesn't imply that LLMs are going to go away after it pops.
