It's time to move away from Paypal and use a credit card when buying online. Fraud protection with credit cards is much stronger. Paypal has proven itself bad for consumers again and again.

It is as relevant as people's experience and certifications.

Societies laws are not particularly difficult to follow even if you disagree with them, if someone I work has chosen not to follow those laws to a degree that they have been imprisoned by a jury of their peer's I think it is as relevant as their previous roles + educational attainment.

Why should it be rehabilitation? Keeping people off the street to so they can't re-offend is a pretty good goal.

It's mostly just good PR. Overall the SNP have pushed Scotland down the rankings in pretty much every measurable metric that matters.

Media is in it for clicks/views. Most people are not that interested in labor action unless it's flashy and effects them.

I have no strong opinions on the matter, just commenting on your amazement that labor action is ignored by media.

The job market is going to suck in tech for the next year, maybe less but the market is flooded with qualified people right now and that will take time to settle.

I would do what you can to kill a year, sign up for post-doc work, spend a year teaching, go travel etc.
