"Just because it's the mess we are all intimately familiar with, doesn't make it less of a mess."
I kinda feel like you could apply the statement more to powershell tho.
I just dont see how Remove-Item is superior to rm and thats just the first example that came to mind (Atleast there are aliases for most stuff afaik so i guess its not AS bad).
I also just googled and there seem to be 3-4 different commands (not including the aliases) that do EXACTLY the same thing, atleast the Microsoft article used 1:1 the same description for all of them.

Its very likely that its just because i have almost no experience with powershell meanwhile i have now ~4-5 years of dailying linux but i just find the powershell commands to be very cumbersome to use.
They are wayyy to long and descriptive instead of just 2-4 letters, there are 500 different commands for very specific uses instead of 10 tools that you can use and combine todo almost everything and if i recall correctly (my memory might trick me here tho) the errors are far less readable at a first glance and fill the entire terminal for simple things.
CMD meanwhile feels like bash.
Most of my issues with it are probably just skill issues tho since like i said i dont really use or know it alot so i am happy to be corrected :) I mean if every Windows Sysadmin tells me how great powershell is, i cant just assume that they all are wrong (Or maybe its just the only way todo something thats otherwise simple over the terminal on windows, idk)

Well to be honest, even 5% would probably be too much for me (even tho i dont know the pricing of tokens or consumption of tokens)
I would just want to test around a bit locally, maybe let it do its thing over a weekend just to see the result and then stop it again

Afaik you can run Claude Code locally but every single demo i see uses it exclusively with apis, so are the local models already good enough to be worth it or is the only reasonable use for claude code with cloud models?

Well even if my Framework would explode it wouldnt be THAT big of a deal to me, i would just move over to my ps5 or steamdeck for the time and since i dont really go outside i would have to wait for the shipment anyway.
Only scenario where it would be troubling is if it happened during the rare weeks where i am not home due to being a bit away in school but even then i dont think i would just buy an entirely new laptop and instead just write on paper for the 3-4 remaining days.
So for me fixing a keyboard i spilled cola on fast, cheap and without sending the device away is far far far more important than replacing an entire laptop when it disintegrates into dust.

It seems to be definitly higher but their support always just send a replacement with no issues to me.
My first GPU had an issue where the fans had a really annoying whirring sound and it got replaced.
I had a (pre-)release motherboard (one of the last FW16 pre-order batches) which had an issue with uneven heat on the CPU, also got replaced.
In both cases i could just use the Laptop like normal until the new parts arrived so i had no "downtime"

While i think the usecase of a Macbook and a Framework are really different i will always be thankfull to framework for how easy they make it.
Broke my keyboard, a few days later i had a new one that didnt even take a minute to swap. Wanted to upgrade my GPU twice, didnt even take 10 minutes.
Biggest difficulty was swapping the motherboard, but even that was easy.
The ports i need change all the time, and i can just swap them all the time :D
While a framework might be a bit expensive, overpriced even, i think the repairability and upgradeability is worth it for me

I just talked about using it on Desktop mode like a PC. I never said anything about doing business on it or using it as your Work PC.
Even the announcement "trailer" of the steammachine showed it getting used on a Computer monitor with mouse and keyboard in desktop mode. They even said they want to improve the "Desktop mode only" experience iirc and for there more apps than just games are important.
And i personally probably wouldnt have bought a steamdeck if it wasnt possible to just go into desktop mode and do whatever.

Also a big part of the marketing for the SteamMachine/SteamDeck/SteamFrame is that it has a desktop mode and can be used like a pc, so i think they also have an interest in that

Wouldnt it be possible to extract the files you need and sort of "repackage" it for linux?
I have no idea how electron apps look "internally" but it doesnt sound too bad.
Sort of like you can unzip .deb files and use them somewhere else, if what i heard was correct (never tried it myself)

AFAIK this is not like the steamdeck where it unloads the entire desktop for better performance, its basically just a fullscreen app if its the same thing those windows handhelds got (And this is what it looks like to me).

I dont have a real special usecase, i just use it whenever i think it will give better results than googling or thinking or i dont feel like getting annoyed by cookie popups.
And i dont think gpt3 was best, but it felt like it actually listened.
Now i tell it: "You did this and this wrong, i specifically told u the exact opposite. Can you please do what i asked you?"
And then it says something like: "Oh yes my bad, you are right and very very smart to have caught that you must be a super genius. I will now do what you asked me"
Does the same wrong thing again. and again and again.
I ask it to fix a mistake, it tells me it fixed it, gives 1:1 the same thing with more errors.
It also feels like it forgets mid convo way faster than it did.

This is why im always feeling bad when putting mobile versions of games i love made by netease on my phone.
Where i felt especially bad was Dead by Daylight mobile.
Persona 5X is not made by NetEase but i still dont have a good feeling about them.
I would think they would be more restricted in what they can collect on a Phone OS (android in my case) but i still wonder if there is some way to fully isolate shady apps.

Im not too deep into USA politics and have very very bad memory so i dont remember how it went down.
