While I agree with everything, I personally try to make my one liners positive instead of negative. On average it just opens an opportunity for a nicer conversation than another whine about politics, weather or public transit.

Sounds more like Finland than Denmark. Danish people seem to quite fond of conversations with strangers. I cycled through entirety of Denmark one summer and we’ve had so many beautiful engagements with locals, in villages, towns and cities alike.

As a Pole, Germany was the first place I started enjoying random convos on the street. It definitely depends where as Germans aren’t homogeneous. Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein are brilliant in that regard. Heck, in Hamburg a dude said my t-shirt is sick and I still remember that vividly. It’s been one of my first solo trips out of my country and it boosted my morale for the rest of that holiday.

You literally cannot become a legal driver in Poland without popping the hood, showing and explaining random two refillable tanks and oil level check. It’s a part of the driver’s license exam.

The phrasing is important as the discussion about personal decisions needs to start from acknowledging it’s a poison, which was not the case for the last centuries. We’ve had narration that some wine and beer is safe and that was incorrect.
Chocolate is beneficial in moderation as far as we know so not sure why you brought it up. So is consexual sex with repeat partner.

There are roughly 5 areas of which combined cover 80+% of things you can control.
1. Exercise (aerobic and strength, doesn’t have to be much but more is better).
2. Diet (mostly whole foods, mostly plants, low saturated fat).
3. Prevention (regular check ups and following doctor’s advice).
4. Meaning / purpose (either being passionate about your job or having such hobbies outside of it).
5. Friends and community.
This isn’t too much. By many that’s the bare minimum for having a satisfactory life.

The article is fantastic with only one caveat. Recommending 1.6 g of protein per kg of body weight to people who are only meeting, not exceeding, physical activity recommendations is foolish. 1.6 if amount that one needs to build maximum muscle mass in the shortest possible time. Leading protein intake researchers (think people like Stu Philips) state that that recommendation is excessive for most people and he instead suggests 1.2 g for nearly everyone.

>> Sticking to a Mediterranean diet that is light on carbohydrates and saturated fats is almost always the safest bet.
Majority of calories on a Mediterranean diet come from carbohydrates. I think the author meant “light on processed sugars (unless warranted by a high endurance training volumes)”.

I thought the same until I purchased earbuds that fit perfectly. I won’t share a brand as it’s irrelevant for anyone else’s fit. However, I do running, cycling, rowing, skipping, climbing, powerlifting, bodybuilding, calisthenics in them and I don’t even have to adjust them unless I directly hit them with my hand. There is zero risk of them falling out in regular circumstances.
That was not the case with several earbuds I’ve owned in the past.

Yet there is Oulu (city in middle of Finland with year long, studded tyres on snow and ice cycling culture), hilly Oslo, rainy Copenhagen, windy Amsterdam and now fair but unpredictable London and Paris are joining the mix.
Bicycle commuting is extremely safe if cyclists are accounted for by the infrastructure designers. It’s a statistical fact that’s true across the world, even the USA. BTW, check what’s the leading cause of children death in the States.

1 km or 5 km in north Spain’s weather is a cycling first range. Electric bicycle would save those people a ton of money and time compared to cars. Netherlands considers 7.5 km radius a catchment range of a train station in non-urban setting.

But I need my phone daily. I can’t log in to my client’s servers without 2FA, can’t make payments, can’t do many things that are super important.
I found Jomo app perfect instead. I blocked all apps and websites that are distracting or promote doom scrolling behavior in me. Once I went through a detox I’ve allowed them in the evenings for 15 minutes only when conditions are met (I’ve exercised and walked 10k steps etc.). I generally don’t have desire to use them then but I might have messages from my friends or I might want to publish something myself.
