The usage of this algorithm prevents the lowering of prices by simply building more units as the occupancy rate can simply be adjusted.

I'd claim intuitively that having all bits 0 is a proper starting point and more efficient if there were any constraints on address, which was likely the case historically.

I'm happy to hear any dissenting opinions if this is inaccurate.

I'd want to know what was done with the data after the scanning. Perhaps a specific car is being sought and the data is discarded afterwards, which would be more ethical than keeping the data and attempting to profit off of it, regardless of whether it's "legal" and there's some attempt at "disrupting an industry."

It feels as though nowadays people feel entitled to make stuff up and have it be real through sheer force of repetition and words with multiple syllables. It's concerning that there are degrees in qualitative economics and non-programming computer science.

Just another form of speculative betting. Would require some chart-staring to confirm, but I'd guess that it's correlated to tech stocks but more volatile.

Those other examples fall under the intersection of trendy, useful across a spectrum of scenarios, widely adopted, and in hindsight changed the face of technology itself. The comparison is apples to oranges....or a handful of peanut shells to the total population of orange trees to be more accurate.

Ask HN: Has anyone had Instacart accout deactivated for no reason?

Today I was attempting to make a grocery store purchase and it was immediately cancelled saying that "my account has been deactivated." I have frequently used Instacart since Covid began and have had 3 successful orders in the month of April. I don't see a path towards resolving this.

I find the web 3 claims to be a hodgepodge of misplaced hope and occasional virtue signaling.

Crypto is constantly advertised as is. Incrementally, I can’t see a 200m investment paying off. With interest rates rising, speculative investment is going to drop significantly.
