Hey don’t abuse privileged workplace information for personal gain isn’t exactly a fresh notion.

Imagine if professionals like lawyers and accountants operated like that.

I’ve been using rust for vibecoding too for similar reasons.

Do enough of it though and you definitely notice the huge difference in training data available. Python converges on a working solution noticeably faster especially for things like APIs and LLM stuff.

So these days I’m making a judgement call at the start on which language is the better tradeoff. Generally rust for raw data processing and Python for website backend APIish tasks

I’ll likely end up voting based on this issue. This dystopian track everyone but think of the children dystopian BS in the UK needs to stop.

The issue is the parties taking a strong stance on this are not the ones I’d normally align with

Yup. Gaming laptops with dedicated GPUs tend to fare better on this because internally the CPU and GPU is often bridged with a heat pipe and shared cooling

So thermals are specd for both running at same time but you only need CPU for home server so shouldn’t throttle

Ran an old laptop as home server for years.

It’s OKish as a starting point into selfhosted world but overall not ideal. The battery is a fire risk and the entire thermal design isn’t really geared towards 24/7 operation.

Not really something I’d co locate unless it was a DC physically near me so that stopping by is easy

I’d say there odd a bit of a flaw in the read 50,000 books part though. The LLM reading that much doesn’t really get you 50k books of value as a person. You’re the bottleneck not the flops

Think it’s still wise to containerize it somehow just so that it can’t nuke anything.

Being worried about escape from isolation etc in a person dev context seems like overkill though

I’d say there is a credible case for saying the vote for 2nd round of trump was the turning point. By that point is was already pretty well established that he isn’t fit yet that’s what the public wanted.

Wild that the US accepted Iran's maximalist demands as starting point for negotiations. There seem to be some uncertainty around what those 10 points are - multiple versions floating around, but they all read very much like a US strategic defeat. Full retreat from region, reparations to be paid etc.

The old kindles only support the book format with the weak encryption. ;)

They also killed the ability to download books from the website a while back so directly of travel is pretty clear here.

Got 3/9 and live in London. Really only a single one of which I both had confidence in and got right.

Most people on the tube have headphones in anyway tbh.
