I wonder if the author is missing an opportunity to step further away by learning physics on this vacation. I usually follow the same playbook- little phone use, slow vacation, hiking in nature, phyical books (carefully selected beforehand- nothing work related, nothing technical), even used to spend a fair bit of time selecting the music i was going to listen to while driving to avoid radio or incar spotify. If lucky, i get these moments of inspiration. if not i return refreshed with slightly altered goals. Like everyone i have a chimp on my shoulder questioning me: could i have been more productive, maybe learn something useful?

I know this feeling. Before AI you had to evaluate an idea, plan its inplementation, judge if it is worth it or even doable. Now, you just prompt and see if you keep the output and think of the next thing to do. This can feel addictive. When i get lost in this i try to step away and think about what the bigger goal is and whether i am just distracting myself. I guess this helps me not get drained. But there is something which also helps tremendously: my coworkers do not work on the same things as i do. if they did, i would feel a big pressure to finish first. Are you competing with anyone?

When i look around my programming coworkers i feel this shift poses a problem to many of them. Not so much because AI now does all programming but more because they are so used to working through tasks someone else creates for them.

Rive renderer seems to quite ahead but the GPU triangulation part is still interesting. I wonder how this would compare to rives approach in benchmark.

I remember watching Jurassic Park when it came out and i loved the CGI (the 5 seconds). Now with Ai we should be excited to see the new dinosaurs looking even more realistic but somehow they don’t- they look like in 1996 just not quite as good…

How to you love this stuff so hard? I could newer love any ai generated music, book or artwork. Anything ai gemerated i have ever seem or heard was either disgustingly slop or indistinguishable from something else which was real. It‘s a like finding a cool track only to discover it‘s a lazy bootleg.

Not as clever as it may sound. It is perfectly possible that someone has nothing to hide in a good way, whereas someone without anything to say for himself cannot be easily imagined as a good faith social individual. So in a way this is comparing apples to bad apples and claiming they are perfectly equal.

This is a strage phenomenon where people get excited by the mere fact that someone else is excited by something which is not directly visible to the spectator. It works well in horror movies and as it seems with AI hype.
