I built Filenest to solve a problem we all have (at least me): a messy Downloads folder. It's a lightweight desktop app that sits in your system tray and automatically organizes your files into folders based on their type.

How it works: - Set up custom categories (Documents, Images, 3D Models, etc.) with the file extensions you want - Enable the watcher, and Filenest automatically moves new downloads to the right folder - Or trigger a manual sort whenever you want

No more hunting through hundreds of random files to find that PDF you downloaded last week.

Also, its customizable so you don't have to use the Downloads folder if you don't want to you can point it to anywhere you want and when you add files to that folder they will be automatically sorted.

I've built MTGThing, a web app that uses a custom algorithm to accurately assess Commander deck power levels. Here's why it's different:

Bracket-based analysis: Leverages established power level brackets (casual, focused, optimized, competitive) and applies weighted scoring to card choices, mana curve, and synergies.

There is no way I can and will buy the amount of metal music I consume lol.

Also the algo that suggests new music is awesome! I learned about a lot of new bands just by using that feature.

I started just writing in an empty note everyday (ofc I do digital, I can't write something readable if my life depended on it). The empty note is in Obsidian but you can really use whatever you want, you name the file todays date and thats it. All the things that happen this day at work / private i write inside of that note.

After work is done, do a small reflection and move the needed notes into separate files or extend some other things.

Lets say I work on a kubernetes cluster. I have a note "Kubernetes setup". Today I've configured some services used some kubectl commands etc. and everything I do I document into my "daily" note. After the workday is done I see, "oh i've added new commands and explanations to my notes" and I move them accordingly to the kubernetes setup note if needed.

So find your system and work with it. If you do write notes try to write them as if you are writing a documentation for your future self.

Ignored it as long as I could it never really interested me, but my company starts to flirt with the idea of blockchains and I was curious if it really is better then some traditional approach, turns out nope.

But thanks, I think thats a healthy mindset to have.

After googling and reading up on it, the biggest difference is the "Decentralization" ( I will come back to why I put it in "" ).

The second difference is the immutability or the way the data is handled, you can only append new data/blocks to the blockchain. Once added it cannot be modified, edited or removed from the chain.

there are more features to the blockchain, I would like to focus on these and ask, what would be the point of me using this?

So the decentralization is nice in theory but all Blockchains are in the end hosted in big cloud providers. Why? Because it gets ridiculously large because of the blockchain and updating everything. The transactions between the different blockchains is also super slow. especially if there are multiple things that need to be appended.

So what I see is I have a DB which is scattered, huge and slow.

So can someone elaborate this to me?

Dude, touch some grass

Have you ever tried running an old App on linux compared to windows lets say? Windows compatibility is unmatched. I can effortlessly run old programs and games.

If a linux project is abandoned for a few years, good luck making it run. (and I know you can always recompile etc, but thats besides the point, no "normal" user will compile an app)

I love the terminal and everything but we should not teach people how to use it. The terminal is not the most user friendly thing out there is it? (maybe its harsh saying "should not teach" but lets say make them aware there is a terminal but there should be alterantives)

I would not get rid of it.. ever, but I would love to see alternatives to it. People are too fixated on working from the terminal and using the terminal that they don't see that its literally the thing that gate keeps people away from trying Linux.

Just watch the LTT videos about gaming on Linux. Linux is a Cluster** of an OS to troubleshoot and configure.

I'm a dev myself I love my Arch and everything but this OS is NOT meant for normal people.

Its 2022, people don't want to fiddle around with a terminal.

Until Linux and its users don't fix the core problem of linux and thats usability, I don't see people switching to it.

Maybe steam changes this.. but we will see..
