Yup. That website's no good. Looks like it either does a new tab popup or redirects the page. I can still read it if I use a harsh filter.

So long as I know it uses AI generated vocals or instruments it's A-OK with me. It's an emerging genre. Whether it's junk is going to depend a lot on how the director corrals the output. I've listened to plenty of junk already. Amateur work can be fun to try and I'm curious how this will compare to Vocaloid or autotuned stuff.

That quote comes from an article ( https://grist.org/climate-energy/the-least-sustainable-city-... ) that argues that multiple infrastructure failures would be a disaster. I agree that there's a risk here in such an extreme scenario, though that's exactly why those services are as robust as they are.
My response is that if you aren't prepared for the A/C to go out during the summer or for your car to break down, then you're living on the edge. It's easy to put yourself in a bad spot.
I think we're okay, so I challenge the notion that were not, but it's something we need pushback on to keep us sharp. There are problems everywhere and it's key that we focus on ours.

People have been moving from California to AZ since before 2000. We get plenty of people from all around the US. I generally don't want to care about California's policies because focusing on Arizona's policies is more practical, but I do wish California and Nevada would waste less water. We take water security seriously because a lack of water is a meaningful threat. That stuff requires long-term planning that puts safety first instead of optimizing for profit.

I'm a native too, though I've lived more in the "greater Phoenix area" than only Phoenix.
It is comically true how we tend to live in AC bubbles. On one hand, I completely understand. When the heat is so heavy that you can walk outside for 15 seconds, come back inside, and only then start sweating... I can't fault people for avoiding it as much as possible.
Growing up, I'd always shivver during the summer and sweat during winter. Places like schools and stores will blast their AC constantly so the entire building is the opposite of the temperature outside. Often I'll wear layers to get around it, putting on up to three shirts when going indoors for a longer period of time.
When I worked in construction for a year I learned how to safely work in 110°F heat. After that, I tried really hard to not adapt back to the colder weather, which is kind of hard when where I'm working requires me to bundle up during the summer as if it's winter because they keep it as cold as they can.
I love the state too.

I got an ad for an AI legal consultant and it made me upset. Someone is trying to make a cheap buck by outsourcing legal advice to an unreliable source. Now I'm more prepared to explain how it's a bad idea, instead of just why.
I like that the article explains a few different ways hallucinations creep in, besides the obvious. Maybe what's most needed is a better retrieval/search system? If the AI can't fetch high quality data, then it's doomed before it tries.

>Through high-level contacts I had at Microsoft I was asked to file a vulnerability report – the drop-down list of affected products on Microsoft's web page didn't even include Copilot. I selected "Other," reported the flaw, and a day later heard back from their security team:
>>"We've looked over your report, and what you're reporting appears to be a bug/product suggestion, but does not meet the definition of a security vulnerability."
>That left me wondering whether Microsoft's security team knows enough about LLM internals and prompt attacks to be able to grade a potential security vulnerability. Perhaps – but I got no sense from this response that this was the case.
I'm sympathetic with the author. He doesn't trust the boilerplate response he got. Calling it a "product suggestion" doesn't inspire confidence even if I understand why they'd call it that.
I think that the author doesn't understand what happened, but it must look concerning to them. Maybe it started outputting code as babble because more LLMs have been trained with that? That could be concerning without coding experience, especially if the words that the author can understand sound important or relevant to the LLM itself.

Sounds like a "SolidGoldMagiKarp" issue, which is fairly benign. It's neat that something like that still exists in current LLMs.

I think it's closer to tracing. If the end result of following an AI is capped by being somewhat flawed or the artist not learning certain skills, is that a bad thing? I see it as a limitation instead of a negative. Copying AI art can only get someone so far. The best results will come from the artist making their own decisions.

Okay. Let's talk specifics.
I log in to an end-to-end encrypted chat with a family member. We talk about life and the subject drifts to plane tickets we already bought for next month and how the neighbor across the street isn't going to be home until the end of this month.
The thief who stole my laptop now has also stolen a recorded conversation along with my passwords. Now they know when two houses will be empty. This would not have happened without pictures of my screen being taken frequently.
