??? I bet investors are extremely happy that anthropic pledged to give an outside company full access to their IP, in order to slow down their own iteration speed. Investors looooove oversight for a company they invest in. I wonder why no other company does stuff like this

Currently Qwen3.8 27B is roughly on Opus 4.6 level. In at most a year given the current pace, you could probably run such hacking bot nets out of a reasonably small local server, bootstrapping by hacking or acquiring login credentials for more compute.

This makes no sense. 100 words for 0.14kWh is crazy.

Currently the api costs 15$ for 1M output tokens ~ 750k words. So 50k words/$

But, according to washingtonpost, 50k words consume 70kWh of electricity.

Which in turn would imply that OpenAI needs to pay less than 1.4ct per kWh of electricity to make a profit. Average industrial electricity cost in US ~8ct/kwh.

-> The numbers are wrong or OpenAI has solved AGI and is using a fission reactor to produce energy.

Also the numbers in the paper don't fit the numbers in the article (paper is older though). I actually think this is grossly misleading at best, and malicious misinformation at worst.

This is not at all similar.

The correct analogy would be if the person I accidentally elbowed claimed I was physically assaulting them, which I of course would deny.

Racism is a very extreme call-out and it is no wonder that people defend against it. It is no matter of believing that I hurt the person, I do. But I am defending myself from an attack I believe is unproportional,and actually leaves no choice but to defend myself. Call it insensitive instead of racist and people are far more likely to listen.
