Marc Andreesen has first-hand knowledge that absolutely refutes what you are saying.
The Democratic party is more anti-ai than the Republican party and unfortunately both of them are increasingly responding to astroturfed populism.
Do you think Bernie Sanders in AOC are pro-ai? Are you kidding me? Have you seen what they say and the legislation they propose?

Student/teacher ratios have gone down, not up over the last few decades. This isn't a lack of funding.
Teachers are put in an impossible position with students who come from homes where the parents don't do their proper jobs. It's never been easier to be a neglectful parent. Your child will be entertained non-stop by an iPad and a video game system. They won't get bored and bother you. You can send them to their room and do whatever you want if you don't care if they are sleeping or not, as long as they are quiet.
The "iPad babies" are an epidemic in schools.
Source:
My sister is a K-12 educator in a poor, rural public school system in southeastern Virginia.
In recent years, she's seen a surge in students who are sorted, improperly, into special education classes. These are students that exhibit symptoms of various learning disabilities, but these symptoms heavily overlap with the symptoms of children who are sleep deprived and over stimulated by dopamine activating content on the devices they are addicted to.

"The code isn't clean"
Skill issue. If you just one-shot everything, sure, you'll get a messy codebase. But if you just manage it like a talented junior dev, review the code, provide feedback, and iterate, you get very clean code. Minus the arguing you get from some OCD moron human who is attached to their weird line length formatting quirk.

They care how much you charge them to build it, and they care how fast you deliver it to them. The idea that they don't makes me question whether or not you have ever been self-employed in your entire life. This kind of thinking makes me think you have always been a drone getting paid by a boss.

"I'm not going to use this technology that obviously enhances my productivity because <insert emotional subjective reasoning that no customer would ever care about here>."
I think a lot of people have forgotten why we actually get paid to write code. The person who wants an automated billing system doesn't care if you hand-typed it or not, or if the CSS that would have taken 2 hours to write took 8 seconds via an AI plus 60 seconds of you tweaking a border you didn't like. They just want their billing system. And if you are the person that takes 20x longer to build it, you're going to quickly get outcompeted. Sorry.

There was absolutely no reason to flag my comment, other than the fact that you disagree with it because it penetrates your Bay Area bubble of distorted reality.
I don't know what the comment you are replying to was talking about, and I agree that "white culture" is an absurd false construct, because "white" is a false construct. I understand flagging stuff like that, but nothing in my comment warranted it. I expressed a logical opinion. The percentage of people in the United States present on legal visas getting caught up by ICE is near-zero. It's an entirely propagandistic narrative to suggest otherwise, based entirely on motivated reasoning.
And before you label me a bigot or whatever to feed your sense of moral superiority, be aware that I'm the only "white" person in my household, and I'm also, by far, the most "liberal". Outside of the Bay Area, a lot of people of color like my wife and her family absolutely despise your politics, viewing them as luxury beliefs.
My politics are basically identical to Garry Tan's, but you've lost the plot so much that you felt a need to flag my comment.

I worked in the Pentagon for 10 years, and got my beak wet with neural nets there very early, back when we were using Playstation 3s for their GPUs.
I was staunchly against the Iraq war, but even when Bush was president I didn't let it compromise my patriotism.
The amount of people on here who ignore the fact that Iran was the primary enabler of Hamas' attack on 10/7/23, and therefore sowed the seeds of the destruction of Gaza, is insane. Basically, if Trump does a thing, they are against it, independent of the thing. There is no principle, just reactionary hatred. If Biden had launched this war, none of these people would have had a problem with it. I am 100% positive on that assumption.

You have made a false claim.
6 months?
I've been using LLMs to augment development since early December 2023. I've expanded the scope and complexity of the changes made since then as the models grew.
I work at a company with approximately $1 million in revenue per engineer and multiple 10+ year old codebases.
We use agents very aggressively, combined with beads, tons of tests, etc.
You treat them like any developer, and review the code in PRs, provide feedback, have the agents act, and merge when it's good.
We have gained tremendous velocity and have been able to tackle far more out of the backlog that we'd been forced to keep in the icebox before.
This idea of setting the bar at "agents work without code reviews" is nuts.

I've been on HN for well over 10 years. I literally volunteered for Obama's 2008 and 2012 campaigns, and my comments in that time period clearly show my politics. I taught free web scraping workshops at the Center for American Progress to journalists back then. None of my policy preferences have changed. What's changed is the frothing at the mouth radicalism and moralizing of the team I used to support.
I'm not religious, and hate religious radicals, but ideologues act identically, just with secular idols. I didn't see that until I watched what the leftist ideologies did to the quality of life in two places I used to live in:
SF and Boulder.
I'm a 2012 Democrat, which makes me a fascist to a 2026 Democrat.
