This is called moral hazard, and people love to worry about it. Usually though (the relevant example here is PrEP, or birth control) it's fine and enables people to live their lives with fewer risks to their, and others, wellbeing

After reading "If Anyone Builds It, Everyone Dies" I think this is not the correct take. If anyone creates ASI, it just means it's going to wipe everyone out, and it doesn't matter if China or the US do it first

Look I love giving people the benefit of the doubt, but that's not why this pricing model exits. It's because they want to capture a percentage of the value delivered, and the easiest way to do that it to charge by executions

Even being generous, and saying it's a year, most capital expenditures depreciate over a period of 5-7 years. To state the obvious, training one model a year is not a saving grace

Interesting, I find that youtube is a great resource for educational content and was very useful in highschool etc.

This seems like throwing the baby out with the bathwater, but to be fair AI and really toxic context wasn't as big of a thing when I was in highschool

In my school there was a strong emphasis on what a healthy diet is baked into the curriculum. Along with my family's relatively healthy cooking, that set me up for cooking and eating well on my own through college and life after that. I would edge away from takes related to "it just wouldn't work"

I mean the education system is its own mess for other reasons, but it's not a complete failure

Wouldn't it only be cancer if your immune system doesn't destroy it? If your immune system can handle it, that's just normal.

The DNA damage that the parent was talking about would lead to cancerous cells which your immune system cannot handle, which is different from the ones that your immune system can handle
