I just read a bit on that site:
> The private person used a dashcam to make recordings of public road traffic and then published them on YouTube as a compilation.
What a PATHETIC thing this GDPR is. Fully agree that we should admit that GDPR is a massive failure (who would have thought!)
Greetings from a European.

If this doesn't apply to the UK as well, it is not enough. I would like to see a flyover ban as well, as PIA flies through the EU to the UK.
I'm following the aviation industry closely and there are plenty of reports every now and then where PIA flights don't respond on radio anymore, triggering fighter intercepts. It is assumed that those pilots are oftentimes either sleeping or just don't bother because of their ego, which was built in their former careers as military pilots.
I don't want to have PIA planes crashing into others or falling on my head.

> Living in a country with an extremely efficient police department is not fun either. See: China and Singapore.
I lived in Singapore it was one of the best times of my life. But you know what? I never even saw the police there. I can't even tell you how their uniform or cars look like. But also I didn't smoke pot or vandalised; I respected the rules that that community set up.

My favorite Siri moment since like iOS 7 is when I ask Siri to turn off all alarms:
".......... one moment please ........... there's a problem with the network connection".
No. There. Is. Not. In fact, all alarms always get deactivated. All other queries immediately before or after work fine.
The failure rate when I ask that is no less than 100% for me. Just sad.

I'm a huge aviation nerd and super curious about the impact of covid on that market. I've built a website that tracks which aircraft type flew where over the last days and what the average number of flights per day for that type is and was:
http://www.flightstats.pro/
It already works well, but there's still a lot to do, like showing aircraft routes on a map.
The overall data provides a nice trend that is statistically stable, but since free aircraft data is hard to come by, coverage of regions that are not Europe or North America is not that great unfortunately.

I'm originally from the Rhine river area and I still spend time there. It's certainly true that the water level was low this summer, but it was an exceptionally long and hot summer. I found interesting that my grandma labeled the it "a summer like the summers we were used to long time ago".
There's even a famous german song "Wann wird's mal wieder richtig Sommer?" (When will we have a real summer again?).
Btw since it was basically constantly raining from Oct-Dec, the river replenished really quickly.

I‘ve worked at a major company that is more or less controlled by Rocket and my direct neighbor was the Germany-CEO of one of their successfuller ventures, so I think I have a rather good picture of Rocket. However, I think they have not met expectations. They have not become huge, and are just doing okay, what I consider as a failure, given their goals.

I’ve lived in Berlin for some years. What I‘ve seen from most of the startup scene there was that people are more collecting memories than building businesses. The predominant mindset was like „we don’t want to take over the world and we will most likely fail anyway“.
The successful ones, like Dubsmash, leave for the US after a while.
If I, as a German, was to create a startup in Europe today, I’d do so in London.
