Just $20 a month to Anthropic. I've run into having to step away from the AI projects for a bit here and there due to burning the 5-hour window in 3 hours a handful of times. But never ran out of the weekly usage with days to go.

Building myself a replacement for Git Tower. I've been using version 2 for about 8 years now, refusing to pay a subscription for the newer versions. It's finally getting long in the tooth, so building myself a new application that does all the things the modern git GUIs can do.

Yes, Biden didn't artificially make number go up. But he definitely didn't mess up the economy. In a global look at the economy the US fared better than most other countries in what was a global downturn after the post-COVID free-money boom tailed off. But yeah, Trump has shown in the past over and over that he is definitely the person to make sure things are done financially responsibly. From his dozens of bankruptcies, known history of not paying contractors and lawyers, and his multiple lawsuits for being a slumlord. So how could you have seen this coming?

I'm going to take the side of Apple on this one. Looking at the screenshots I have no idea what the app does.

Screenshot 1: A sheet of paper next to a phone. Is it printer bridge?

Screenshot 2/3: Calendar and Reminders. Is it a to-do compiler that pulls from sources that already exist on the device?

Screenshot 4: A phone with a date picker. Ok, what about the last day of the month?

Screenshot 5: Print your daily plan. We're finally getting to what the app does, I think.

So, how much was hand-written after the initial 6 hours? It sounds like quite a bit. My experience has been very different. I haven't gotten to the point of releasing anything from AI yet, but I'll spend a weekend throwing prompts, then I'll have an application that does the thing that I asked it to do. I'll use the application over the next week or so keeping a task list of things that I'd want to tweak, bugs, or features that are missing, then I share that document with the AI and tell it to clear the list. If I'm building something with AI, I really don't touch the code. If there is a bad pattern the code, I flag it in my task list and tell the AI to fix it.

Typing. The thought of talking to a computer, beyond "set a timer for X minutes" just doesn't work for me, and that is only used with my watch while cooking.

The models themselves, like GPT from ChatGPT, Opus from Anthropic, etc. are just the "brands" of LLMs. But there are local models, that run on your own hardware as well like Qwen from Alibaba and Kimi K from Moonshot.

Kind of like how Pepsi and Coke are brands of cola.

domain/llms.txt is like a robots.txt for telling LLMs how to best interact with the site. The majority of "LLM" discussion on HackerNews has nothing to do with these instruction files though. LLM, or Large Language Model, is what people outside of the tech community are calling "AI". A lot of discussion is happening on HN about LLMs because they are the hot new technology. If they can fulfill their promises, the could revolutionize the world. Currently they are pretty good at producing decent looking text and code, but if you really dig into the outputs you'll find it is often quite sloppy.
